With a few mods....

why don't you get the 2.5 TRX motor. This might be the opportunity for you to get your 1st gen to 2.5 specs or go with the .18 Sirio motor with the same amount of mods. Just an idea though, but the OS is a good choice if you want a straight drop in.

Need your help guys....

I was running the Maxx yesterday and it was running fine for 3 tanks and then I started hearing clicking sounds when I'm running it. I could not isolate where the clicking was coming from. I was running on a softball field with a few patches of dirt and a lot of short grass. I did a few small jumps as well. The truck runs well still, there is no hesitation from the engine, clutch or drivetrain. It's just the clicking noise, I'm worried that I might run into problems if I do not find the culprit. Give me some ideas where to start first. Maybe some of you guys have experienced this problem and have found the fix as well.

CLICKING ???

I have heard clicking from my t-maxx in the past & all i could get it down to was the shaft that carries the one way bearing for the starter thingy, where its is notched to locate on the crankshaft/conrod pin.

I hope this is helpfull !!!!!

clicking noise....

Racecar850, after isolating the clicking sound and found the shaft to the one way bearing was the culprit, where you able to find a fix for that? If you were able to eliminate the clicking sound can you post the steps you took to fix it, that's if you don't mind.

hmm... a clicking noise could be just aobut anyhting from a stick or rock caught in a wheel, to a worn axle or if you have CVd's a worn drive cup, to a broken tooth on a diff, to a chiped tooth on a tranny gear. start by looking everyhitn over really well. Pull off all the wheels and be sure its not something like a small stick or rock causing the sound. Then put the wheels back on and roll the truck around listening for the click. if its from the front or rear its probably a diff if tis from teh cetner its probably the tranny. if you still can't find it remove the tranny and rotate each end of the truck and the tranny seperately to further isolate the source of the clicking.

I hope this helps.

CLICKING

XtremeMDX....I disssembled the engine, did not see anything broke or exessively worn, just noticed a large amount of free play between crankshaft and one way bearing shaft.
I also run a modified TRX .15 on my NTC3 but on this engine i have a blank backing plate that has elliminated the one way bearing shaft, i dont get any clicking from this engine....it has been run once in the T-Maxx....no clicking there either

The Reason it is doing this is because it is get broke in and you need to rebuild the shocks this will bring your front end up agin do this once every gallon of gas

Hey guys... just got back from my LHS and spied out a new 2.5 TMaxx. Man i must say... it is a sa-weet lookin machine! Is the drivetrain as beefy looking too? I purchased a Kyosho USA-1 many years ago.... and was VERY disappointed with the purchase... so much so... i sold it partially built! I didnt have the heart to finish what looked to me like a glorified toy. But i understand the EMaxx is similar to the TMaxx... and far from a toy. I am into electric though... and most likely will be building this beast for anger management purposes... you know... bad day at the job... jump the truck 10 feet... etc. I guess i am asking if any of you guys can give me the heads up on what to get to make this EMaxx durable. I just read the new article in the Car Action mag about the EMaxx and the upgrades they suggested. I do want this machine one speed with no reverse. Basically built as a race truck with performance in mind. I seen that Robinson makes a gearbox that is one way...is that one speed as well? Any info/websites can, and will be greatly appreciated! Thanx!

Tmaxx Help

I have this bnew tmaxx 2.5 but have difficulty running it for a long time. I do not end up consuming the entire gas in the tank because it suddenly stalls and takes a while to make it run again. I don't flood the engine when starting it so i think my settings are OK. I have not changed the glow plugs since i bought it and have consumed probably almost a gallon including the break in process.
Is there a need to change glow plug? What alternative plugs can I use other than traxxas? SHould it be hot or cold? I'm from Asia and definitely temp here is already hot and humid. I'm just wondering if others have this experience. I agree the truck is fast and agile. Very good suspension travel especially for high jumps. If I could only make it run continuously, then I can say this is the best truck i have driven. My friend's savage really runs well consuming entire tank and can afford to continously run after the next tank without rest . However in my case, I'm left behind at the pit starting the tmaxx and sometimes end up draining the EZ start battery.

Replace the Glow Plugs....

I'm pretty sure most of us here replaces the glow plugs after break-in. A lot of stuff gets attached to the glow plug during break-in and should be replaced with a new one to avoid tuning problems.

Shock "rebound" should not have anything to do with "rideheight" or droop. If you have your shocks so full that they have enough rebound to affect rideheight they are way over filled and run the risk of blowing seals out. There's most likely something binding in the front suspension.
