Sweet Ride. Is it hard to tune 2 motors at once? How fast does that thing usually haul?

racecar850 03-14-2003 09:38 AM

TUNE UP

run each motor seperately tune it as usual, then only minor tweeking is needed

The T-Maxx doesnt go any faster (gearing etc) but it sure gets there quicker

Also the sound from the exhaust is really sweet not loud just harmonised :weird:

BUILDING FUN

The fun part was building the 2-Maxx

Hardest part was the throttle linkages

Yes the aux. on the M8 works great for the reverse

don't waste your money on that 18, the new 2.5 has more power.

5 cell is one of the best up grades

Thanks for all your input so far......

Due to your inputs I made a few changes to my upgrade plans.
The shock towers will be replaced with the RPM sets instead of the alloy units to keep weight down. Turnbuckles will be changed to TI ones. I am a big fun of titanium items. I have replaced 60-90% of the rotating items in my TC3 and NTC3 with this stuff and I will probably end up with a lot of these things on the Maxx as well. Turnbuckles, and hingepins will be the start since these are the only parts I know available in TI except for the Skidplates and other non drivetrain parts from Hardcore. I wonder if TIR carries anything for the Maxx. I like TIR products more than Hardcore, they look more finished and are less pricier than the HC stuff. Anyone knows if MIP CVDS,Fr/RR and center is available in the shiny sets instead of the black ones?
IB Racin,
If I'm not mistaken the 2.5 TRX develops a little over 1 hp, while the Sirio develops 1.9. Sirio is reputable with their hp figures and usually conservatively rates their hp ratings just like Novarossi,RB,Nova Mega. Where did you get your info that the 2.5 makes more hp than the Sirio. The reason I was contemplating to get the Sirio instead of rebuilding the 2.5 with Sirio upgrades was price. It would cost me close to a new engine to get the complete 2.5 Sirio upgrades . I can get a Sirio for a little less than $ 189.00 less 15% automatic discount I get at my LHS and I will end up with a spare motor and that would be always a plus. I love the 2.5 TRX while my Maxx is still stock but when I upgrade to my planned hop up parts the Maxx will get a little heavier, plus with the Big Joe tire set up I will definitely need to up the ante' on hp to get the Xtreme Maxx going. I hope the 18 will give me the same or better acceleration when I am done with most of the upgrades. I could probably change gearing but that would also mean that the engine would have to work a little harder. I like babying my engines, it leaves me more $ to spend on other upgrades rather than having to spend it on replacement motors.

Body pics F350

1 Attachment(s)
Here are a few pics of the freshly painted F350 body for my Xtreme TMaxx. First one shows the driver side front to rear view. I used this opportunity to experiment and practice different airbrush techniques since this is my 2nd airbrush painting attempt. I used some plaster wall repair tape, I discovered that the tape is good on flat surfaces but on curved onesl; no matter how much you press and prep the tape once you airbrush it lifts up on curves but seems fine on flat surfaces.

My favorite X character......came out quite nice. I was going to do the highlights with glow in the dark paint but decided I wanted a more ghost graphics effect. Don't ask me how I did it, I think I developed MS on my wrist from all the cutting. Let's just say it took me a good hour to get the cutting done.

Stands for Bay Area Monsters, one discovery here. It is easier to use masking sheets for very fine lines. It is harder to get a cleaner cut on liquid mask. This is where I messed up. The lines did not come out as clean as I wanted to.

Voltwatch installed

1 Attachment(s)
I installed a Voltwatch. This is quite essential in monitoring the status of the receiver batteries. I have a 6v hump pack from Peak Racing. I also changed the OE T-Maxx switch to accept a outboard charging plug. I also changed the steering servo to a KO Propo FET Digital Hi Torque servo. I covered the body of the servo with Carbon Fiber decal sheets for a more trick look. Fwd and rev servo was swapped out in favor of some standard Airtronics servo. The OE T-Maxx Hi torque servo was swapped out for the throttle/brake unit. This yielded better braking.

Antenna mount mod

1 Attachment(s)
Swapped out the ugly OE one for an alloy clamp style. It holds the antenna much better and looks cool too.
