Guys, I'm looking for the right tires to use for my T-maxx. I have stock rims, and plan to make a wider one from it. I saw one in an internet site. I would like to ask if the Imex T-MAX CHEVRON JUMBO TIRES would fit the stock rims? I'm also considering getting the Proline Jumbo Series and the Giant tracs. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Dont know about the jumbo tires but are you wanting to race or just bash around? Pro line has the new 40 series which are wider and taller, would that work?

the jumbomaxx tires will not work on stock rims. the bead is too small on the stock rim to hold the tire, and they are not nearly wide enough to put a jumbomaxx tire on there. You could get the jumbomaxx rims for the tires and it would work fine. I ran them for a short while for bashing on my smallbock climber maxx. The jumbos are are just stupidly heavy and will slow you down a lot. the weight and width will be very hard on the driveline and steering. I snaped MIP CVD's on my maxx running the jumbos on my .21.

Proline 40 series tires will only fit on Proline 40 series rims and I've had a few proline wheels and they've been the weakest wheels I've ever had. if the center didn't strip out the rim would crack.

Yup.. the savage tires are taller overall diamater but still the same width and would fit on stock maxx or aftermarket rims fine.

hi there tmaxx guys :)

i plan to purchase a used tmaxx (the 1st edition, not the recently released one.) i know that the kit ill be buying is verly seldom used (less than a gallon run through it, i think) but i would like to know more about tmaxx maintennance/setup.

my questions are:

1. what hopups/accessories do i need to make it run better/stronger? i dont plan to race it, but i would like to see it power slide and jump. or is the stock tmaxx capable of backyard bashing?

2. im an electric guy and this is my first offroad nitro kit. (i had an onroad nitro kit about 4 years ago and that was for a short time only so i forgot most of my pre-use and post-use practices) i know that i need to put after run oil after cleaning the thing. do i need to put it after every run (i plan to run weekends only) or is once a month okay? also, on my onroad nitro, i used denatured alcohol in a spray bottle then blast it with compressed air for cleaning. is there a better way now of cleaning/maintainning the tmaxx?

3. finally, what breaks in a tmaxx? with normal use, are there weak spots such as fragile arms, stripping gears, blown engine (hope not :eek: )?

i have an old all stock T-Maxx and the biggest most exciting change made so far has been a 15 or 16 tooth clutch bell :D heaps of acceleration with reasonable top speed. :tire:

This motor is fast for a RTR model. The break in method used is definitely the new school way. After the break in I let the engine loose and boy this baby rips. I know fast I have a NTC3 outfitted with a Novarossi 5 Port S5 Turbo and for a rtr truck this engine is just ballistic. Kudos to Traxxas in producing this motor. This is my first monster truck and definitely not an expert in jumps but jumping this truck is easy even for a beginner. I have big plans for this truck but this will be a straight basher so the upgrades will be kept to a minimum. I do know that the skidplates and bottom braces will need to be replaced--Titanium will be my choice here, so will the screw set if available. The shocks will be replaced with alloy w/piggyback reservoirs. The upgraded parts will be done to strenghten the truck, and tune the pretty good stock suspension. The servos will be replaced so is the transmitter which I hope can be hooked up with my M8(I hope the AUX function will take care of the reverse)if not then I have to get that module that allows for any 2 channel to have a switcheable aux. Last but not the least I will get a new motor once I get used to this truck. My choice is the Sirio 18. A few of the guys have this on their 2.5 T-Maxx and they say that this motor is the one to get plus I get good pricing on these motors from my LHS, they always hook me up. Should you have any suggestions on upgrades please feel free to post em. It might take awhile since I just finished fully hopping up my TC3 not to mention getting my airbrush/compressor set up. Boy this hobby can get pretty expensive but is sure worth every penny.

One note on the servo replacement. The Ko replacement helped but since I am using the 4 AA configuration it definitely is not up to it's full potential.
Question: What rechargeable batteries can fit in the battery box? Any humpack will do or does it need a special one?
Also can anyone tell me if the M8 will work(using AUX channel to run the reverse)? My wife likes this truck and she does not want to loose the reverse function.

Now that's steering. I can finally get the front wheels to turn the way I want to. I was bashing around the other day and I did not notice that there was a big root coming out of the ground and the Maxx just took some big air but landed in an angle rear first and took about 5 tumbles before it landed on it's wheels. I took it easy bring it back towards me but then I noticed that the rear was lowriding. I stopped the truck and ran to it to inspect it. The Rear bulkhead had broken where the rear towers were mounted. Damn that prematurely ended my fun. I ran to my LHS and they were out of the rear OE bulkheads so I ended up buying the Dynamite alloy rear bulkheads. It was a tad heavier but it should not break as easy as the OE one. I put it in and was very happy w/ the perfromance since it comes with captured hingepins as well not to mention I got $ 20.00 off the retail price. So I decided to get the front sets as well the very next day. Lesson learned, some parts are just unavoidable to be replaced with alloy or Titanium specially for this beast of a truck. I am still sticking to my plan of keeping the metal hop ups to a minimum so here's the list of alloy or Ti hop ups to go next.
Front and rear towers.
Fr/rr cvds and center cvds.
Alloy threaded Dynamite/Losi shocks.
Chassis brace
Front/rear and center skidplates in alloy or Ti.
Maybe the Diff housings(I'd like your opinions here on the dif housings)
Once I get the suspension and drivetrain replaced for strength then I am considering 2 options for the motor. Either change the 2.5 internals with the Sirio hop ups or just get the .18 Sirio motor, once again your opinion will be much welcome here. I'd like to get a faster motor since I would like to get the taller and wider Big Joe wheels and tires set up. A little more power should offset the heavier tire set up.

I would like to take the reverse out but the wifey likes the reverse function .
By the way I ended up buying a new radio. A Futaba 3PDF FM radio and I am very happy with the performance and I still get the reverse function. I decided to get another radio just in case my wife or anyone else want to run it I can still have my M8 to either run the NTC3 or the TC3. The Futaba was quite a good choice, though not as user friendly as the MX3 this ended up a better choice since it will be more difficult for anyone to mess around with the settings.

never had problem with stock diff housing

chassis braces & plates a must....stiffness is a good thing :sneaky:

only aluminize wot you have to ....too much alum adds to much weight....offsets power of engine upgrade

T-Maxx way to much fun for us old :weird: people :sneaky:

Try to get some Titanium stuff. Its lighter than alum, stronger than both plastic and alum. but costs twice as much;)
