teamatlas What model RB engine do U have?

New Jack 07-26-2002 10:26 AM

MyClod: Thanks for the input on the differences between the two cars!!! It was very helpful in me making my choice of which one to buy!!!!

CoastalTony: Hey thanks for your feedback as well, yeah when you get that V1R I'd be anxious to know your thoughts on it & the comparison to the other two, prolly similar by working better on different types of tracks as well!!!!:D

LouisB: Hey bud, why don't you just get a new Piston & Sleeve for that engine instead of buying whole new one!?!?! You may be able to get them reasonably priced at your LHS!!!! :) (Just a thought, & it will save you a bit of money from having to buy a new one)

LouisB 07-26-2002 11:43 AM

New Jack If I get a new piston + sleeve then it will just happen again. I think that this is a case of me buying an engine with a very short lifespan, I'll be replacing pistons and sleeves over and over. I think (but I don't know, b/c the HB site has been down for some time) that it isn't ABC so it wouldn't last all that long:(
The engine still runs and when it's going it has good power so I can wait a while 'til I decide what to do:)

The first thing you should do when you buy a t-maxx is take out the crappy trx engine out, keep it as a spare or something. Buy like a megatech .16 or a O.S. 15 CV hyper. The stock engines have no power and are very touchy to any weather.

:flaming:

Or get a RB C12:D Amazing torque and speed, the best small block Maxx engine I've ever seen:nod:

teamatlas 08-07-2002 01:23 PM

hey the stock motor is a good motor if tuned right i have seen those stock motor's rail. i run full race motor's and they are not far off the pace when it comes to power......

later teamatlas

fireblade 08-09-2002 01:32 PM

Yes atlas you are right but to get the motors to have a lot of power you need to modify them big time! We cant say its all the motor because the T-Maxx is Very heavy and getting some power like a EK-4 is very hard.:flaming:

S7 Europa 08-10-2002 10:58 PM

I think I might get a T-Maxx, because Electric is starting to bug me with all the charging. :o Here's the list:
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Traxxas T-Maxx. ( Ver. 2.0 )
SuperMaxx WideTrac Stage 3
JT Lightweight Racing Chassis
MotorSaver Airfilter
Fuel, Glow Igniter, etc.
Total: About $680
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Is there anything else I really need? :weird:

Are you wanting to race the truck? To me it sounds like your gonna have a bad ass truck but the power plant you need to change. Get like a Picco .15 or a O.S. .15CZ, very good engine!:flaming:

S7 Europa 08-10-2002 11:44 PM

Yep, Racing & Bashing. The new Traxxas .15 ( Dubbed as 2.5 ) won't be enough power? :weird: They 'claim' it will go 40 MPH with optional gearing. The maximum I have to spent is $700. Eventually, I'm going to get UE Foward Only gears, 4 Ofna 1/8th scale shocks, UE Servo Saver, and some other stuff ..

Edit: Heck, I don't even know how much the 2.0 T-Maxx is.

fireblade 08-11-2002 12:27 AM

Personally I think the Traxxas motors suck, Get a picco .15 or a O.S. 15 or mugen .Something better then the trx. The megatech's have 1+hp.:flaming:

Clutchbell- TRX 15 Engine

Has anybody experienced a worn-out clutch bell of the TRX 15 engine? The teeth of my gear connecting the engine and the spurgear has been worn-out. Our local hobby shop doesn't know what clutch bell I should use to replace the old one. What manufacturer have the same clutch bell as that of Traxxas. Hope to hear from you guys.

coastaltony 08-14-2002 05:38 AM

Edwin
You did not mention which spur gear is
on your truck. The stock plastic spur
gear is made to wear out. ($3.00 part)
I have clutch-bells with bearings that
are made for the T-Max. I have 17, 18,
19, 20 (stock), and 21 tooth
clutch-bells.
I have a Robinson Racing 72 tooth
hardened steel spur gear, and the 17
tooth in mine for asphalt on-road
racing. With the OS .15 CV, I can do
wheelies:tire:

rb motor's

hey all if you guy's get a rb .12 check the head screws mine came loose right after 2 tank's and had a hell of a time tuning this thing.

good luck

LouisB 08-14-2002 07:28 AM

My RB's head screws are fine (after about 1/2 a gallon):)
They are quite difficult to tune, but mine's running perfectly now. It sometimes pulls wheelies (with a 18 tooth bell), if I hadn't put the forward only converson in then it would pull them all the time:D
It does take a little time to re-tune when the weather changes.

When you've got it tuned right you'll get awesome performance, are u using a slide or rotary carb? what clutch bell do u have on it?
RBs RULE:nod:
