Thanks so much for your very helpful reply. I appreciate it.
I guess I just need to get a center transmission and go from there. I thought maybe the Traxxas center diff removed the need for the transmission.

E-Maxx!

Has anyone had problems with their EVX-2, triggering the low voltage cutoff to early? I am using lipos with it and I did turn the LVD on. The Esc went to 50% power. After maybe 10minutes. I checked my sells and they were all at 3.8volts.
I'm using SMC 5600mah 2s packs

3.8 seems to be around the average cut off voltage. I bet thats where traxxas has it set. I would recommend calling them to find out though. Or google the EVX cutoff voltage.

Thanks for the reply I'll look into it.

I found a thread on ultimate RC site. The thread said 3.6 volts.
I'll give it another go and see what happens. Hopefully the Esc is ok.
I guess I could always run some type of cut off switch.

I just got a couple venom alarms for my boys trucks. They seem to work well.

Big Midget 02-19-2014 05:11 PM

Also, just read they are set at 3.2volts.
I might just need to call traxxas.

While the LVC may be set for 3.2 you have to remember that the esc will see that 3.2 volts while the batteries are under load. Voltage drops under load. When you're checking your batteries they are at rest and the voltage will read higher. I set the LVC on my vehicles to 3.2 volts and when I check my packs after a run they are usually 3.8 volts per cell.

Based on that I'm going to say thats normal and the esc isn't to blame. If you're hitting LVC after only 10min with a brushed setup I'd look at the packs instead of the esc. Either that or there's something wrong elsewhere with binding, bad motor(s), gearing too high or something to cause the load on the motors to be abnormally high drainging the batteries really fast.

Big Midget 02-20-2014 04:27 AM

I would agree with that. I was running the truck hard for those 10min.
I bought the truck used. I'll double check the gearing and make sure there is no binding in the drive train.

My lipos are SMC's 5600 2s 70c's. Any idea what type run time I might get with a brushless set up? I know that depends on driving too. Any idea?
Hell are those packs good enough?

What packs are some of guys running in your brushless setups?
And getting good run times.

Nice work! and those are by far the best looking tires an Emaxx can wear. I bought mine solely on the memory of them : D

^what tires are those?

Brokenparts 03-02-2014 03:20 PM

Mickey Thompson Baja Claws, 40 series, from RC4WD. Keep in mind that my truck has a half inch longer wheelbase, these things are 7" tall!
