good set? set up? i would try stock at first and wear in the ABS "tires" then see how it is and tune from there. just remember that when you tune you have to wear the tires in again a little til they sit flat and then go from there.

looking at the pic on tamiyas site
http://tamiya.com/english/products/5...f430/index.htm

get the lexan excess from your car body bend it into a box and try to cover the center spur/pinion/center pulley. also cover the rear pully right before the shock tower and cut an opening just for the belt on the top. do the same for the front. we used to do this for our old yokomo yr4's. we also used to cut holes right under the pulleys where rocks would get lodged, BUT i would not do that until you are sure you will never enter a TCS race or anything like that where modded chassis' are not allowed.

not worth the money yet. my tl01 and tt01 are stock chassis and are fast. just remember what you are doing. you are driving on abs. the biggest difference you would see is when you wear in your tires halfway. then it will be good. find a friend with a lathe take the tire down to about 2 mm. it should be good from there.

if you got the itch to buy parts, maybe the one way(pulley or front), you already got oil shocks that are basic upgrades for the other kits, so no need there. bearings, you got. maybe a hard pinion that wont wear out like the aluminum ones. tamiya tuned spring set. oh yeah....BUY DOTS the colored ones that you can make a course out of. or use a garden hose and lay it out + tape it down.

depending on what you mean like molded graphite or woven graphite

it does do something but not really noticed while drifting

as both kinds of graphite make the car sometimes stiffer it asl makes it light

most people want to get their car stiff as possible, so they can perform longer drifts

but since your running on abs the traction is already low as heck

im kinda of the racer or drifter that always does something that a crwod doesnt

i like to make my chassis light but i dont want it to be stiff for drifting

as when the chassis is more flexible (torsonal flex) the grip is increased

thats what i like since im drifting

the choice is yours

There were probably land issues dating back to the original Hawaiians? We have those problems here in NY with the Indians making casinos and trying to not pay taxes. Anyway, back to drift...

Yeah, airborneranger probably wouldn't be able to hook you up with a Yokomo sponsorship since most of you guys run Tamiyas. Maybe you guys could do what Ben did, prepare a presentation and send it to Tamiya?

I've got a MR4TC Special and getting rocks in that thing was a PAIN. Belts were always getting chewed up and parts are hard to find for it. I've since retired the car and it just sits in a box in the basement. I never tried doing the lexan shield for it and I have heard of people drilling in holes on the bottom of the chassis where the diff case sits. How big of a hole were you guys drilling?

i became a judge not just because of winning a lot of comps but mostly experience. plus it is good to have the same judge so people get consistent feedback and scoring. (assuming i know what i am looking for and judging on)

sponsorships would be nice. we have local shops giving us some stuff for the comps and streetcar showoff events.

andresmirt: ta05 sounds nice. just make sure you use your spare lexan pieces to shield your pulleys from rocks jamming them is they are not already protected. also, isn't projekt from FL?

henry i think the hole under the chassis only needs to be about 2mm bigger then the hole it wouldve have been if u made it jst to clear the sight of the pully

i dnt know if you understood that but ill let the other guys clarify it for you

haha. no this is corruption from the 80's. nothing to do with hawaiians.

sheesh, if yokomo wanted to hook me up, i'll run all yokomo stuff i do have a drift spec that i am selling though. gonna try a SD just because it shouldn't feel as "sloppy" as my drift spec does. if they sponsor our meets and/or comps, we definitely would run a banner and stuff. most guys here run tamiyas because of the low entry cost. then they sometimes get more expensive kits. but the ones that started out with pro4's and stuff all got basic tamiyas as their backup and or main drift cars now.

Someone from GD said they don't get hooked up. I thought they did since they do so many shells. Maybe some of the guys get something. I know factory drivers usually get stuff at 50% off retail. Are they considered "factory drivers"?

Hell, I'll drift a DriftKing if they sponsored me. Hmmm, well, maybe not. lol...

You've been drifting alot and seem to have alot of experience with different chassis. What's your take on Yokomos being the best for drifting?

I sold an SSG Stage 3 Upgrade to a guy in South Africa (Odyssey) and he says that the drifts on the SSG are waaaay better and more predictable than the DP or even the TT-01. Alot of those guys in SA now want to switch over to the SSG.

But then there are those Yokomo haters that say TT-01s are all you really need. It might be all you really need, but are they that good once you get the right setup?

Drifting any of those high end chassis is pretty extreme. I've got an SSG myself but I bought it used and beat up. I can't get myself to beat up something as nice as a brand new Tamiya 414xx, SSG, BD, Pro4, etc...

Ordered one yesterday, it should be on the way, along with abc tires ...

I was ginna build project car with brushless setup, but don't know which system to get... but now I just need something to drift around the cudesac, and do not have too much time for the hobbies (car/airplane/heli). I decided to get the RTR, then upgrade later if needed.
Is the new Reedy 17T (they changed from 15T to 17T) comes with the new RTR enough for drifting?
