Yeah, you have a point about buying fresh ABS. When I first started drifting, I was like, "WTF!?!?!?" But i kept at it, fixing my setup, etc... Those guys should state that drifting will get better as the ABS wears out. I've seen some of their feedback and 1 or 2 of the customers were pissed. At least the guys from StreamLineMotoring round out their edges. Heavnlyangel just gives you some cut up pieces. Not a good value at all.
Anyway, I spent some time fixing up the SSG today. I swapped out the titanium mediums in the rear for some Associated greens. I left the titanium softs in front. The rear end swings out now like it's supposed to. The car is very responsive, not sluggish when trying to transition the other way.
I also tested out the SSG with an old set of ABS from last year. You are so right. I noticed the difference immediately. When drifting in circles, I can make them tighter than before. I'm pretty happy with the results. I've always heard from the guys at Arai that old ABS worked better on their concrete track, but I didn't realize til now that worn out ABS in general drifts with better control.
Did ya tell the guy in the TC4 forum to wear out his ABS?

supposed to be softer almost rubbery.
are you serious? overhere, they sell them in 2 foot lengths for 4 bucks and 10ft for 5.99 it was on sale. otherwise it is around 8 bucks. but you gotta watch how "airy" the center is. the more airy the better.
i think the ebay guys are hurting rc drifting. if they at least machined them down to the good part and then sold them, then it would be great. but as they are new, and they tout them as "drift" tires, when people first put them on they will slip and slide and suck bad for at least a pack or 2. that will turn off people like the guy who responded on the tc4 thread that said the cars just slide and he doesn't like it.

alright if you found a pipe in your back yard
how do you find what material it is?
i think it has to be either ABS or PVC

me and me drift o buddys were chattin about trying running just rear wheel drive by taking out the main shaft, running rubber all round do you think it would work? im not going to try it because the 7 in i can drift easily and have a race car without having to change anything

ALRIGHT THANX paz
well yea it wouldnt work simply beacuse of the weight ratio
unless that is you have a MAD KILLER set-up and skill to prevent the car from spinning out
but you could try a spool in the front, without the shaft
i think itll be more controlable that way but i think itll still spin out in some cases
who knows go for it maybe youll be the one who can master a rear wheel drive tc3

battery shrink wrap is awesome for 1/18th drifting. our micros and m18's were a blast. waaaay more consistent across the cars than 1/10th and abs. 3+car tandems around the whole track. that was fun.

well, im saving for some JRXS shocks, and i have a black belt and front sway bar coming in, and hopefuly a new body after the Shocks, but i cant get some new ABS b/c i need some foams b/c my step-dad wants to go to the stock track over on the other side of town
and i bought a rear sway bar, and the last thing i have on my wish list is a 9teen motor, it has the colbolt endbell,
but summer is coming fast, and that means dates

gyro
I just recently read about using a gyro with an rc car.
I watched the HPI demo movie it was real impressive. They say it is targeted primarily as an electronic assisit for drifiting, but I wondered how it would effect a car in normal touring car racing. ( I know it is not ROAR legal)
I wondered if you could not set up the car with a lot of oversteer and let the gyro take care of preventing the tail from really spinning out?
