Not very hard. It's all about throttle control and nothing else. It is all about finesse with these cars. These cars are maybe the most fun cars to drive. I haven't had as much fun since I was racing my MO4 with the belt drive conversion. GET ONE!!!

It was something that you were able to get from Thunder Tiger (I think) many many many moons ago. You would have to search long and far for one of those. Or just go through every issue of RC Car Action from 1998 and early 1999. I know it is one of those. Thunder Tiger (I know) also, at one time, made a nitro conversion for the F103 as well as the TA02 and TA03. But again, a very long time ago. You would probably have to contact the company or just keep your eyes and ears glued to a computer screen looking for one.

The M-04/M-03 belt conversion made driving a hell of a lot smoother and was a great thing to have. You just couldn't have an extremely low-profile body to put on it, because it sat just an eensy bit higher than the servo, but Mini Coopers have a tall body anyways. The conversion also opened up the window for many more gearing options, as it used standard pinion and spur. If you ever find a hobby shop that has a bunch of ones just collecting dust in the back, or someone that is selling one and you don't want it or has more than one, let me know. I sold mine about a year ago, and of friggin course, I got bitten by the mini bug again.

I can't help you on the 48 pitch. I don't really like them. 64 is a hell of a lot smoother. I can say the I was using 96/28-32 64 pitch with a 13.5 Trinity motor. That was a really nice combo. (Don't know what that translates to in 48 pitch)

A set-up for the F103GT is something you really can't give. There are only a few things that you can adjust. Just get the hardest front springs you can find and put them on. 1/12th front springs work nicely, I don't know the TCS rules will allow them though. Lube up your front pins and get the Tamiya TRF Special Damper. Set it with (60-70wt oil for asphalt 40wt for carpet) and a Purple spring (med to med soft) and use Tamiya B compound slicks. 26mm in rear 24mm in front. Sauce up only the front tires. And the only real hop-up I would say that is worth buying besides the damper is the Aluminum motor mount. You only save 6 grams in weight with all the carbon parts anyways, and FRP is way cheaper.

That is really the only set-up advice I can give. There isn't much you can really do to these cars. It really all comes down to driving skill. Any set-up changes that you make, only really make a nominal difference. That is the whole point of this class, to show off your RWD sedan capabilities. Oh yeah, and make sure you use the 4800 Orion LiPo, since there is no weight penalty, the guys who use it are wayyy faster.

HPI used to offer spur gears in 64 and 48 pitch for the Tamiya F101-F103 chassis. I am not sure but if you really want 48, you may want to look on ebay. Otherwise like everyone else says stick with the Tamiya 04 pitch, its easier to run and makes racing fair for all. Also with 48 pitch you can only run up to a certain amount of teeth, before they are exposed below the Flex plate / T-plate.

For those that know/ have the 3Racing stering uprights. 3Racing website says they come in 0,1,2,ect degrees. Are those degrees of camber, caster, toe?

Those are degrees of camber. Toe is adjusted through the turnbuckles, caster can be adjusted with the use of the 3Racing caster mount.

Did anyone hear if Tamiya is going to release a newer Courage body for the F103GT? Even the same body with another paint scheme and decals would be great.

I was finally able to run my F103GT Advan Courage at a race this weekend. I ran GRP foams on the car (Front Shore = 37, Rear Shore = 32) and the car worked great. We also used black motors for a little more speed than the silver can and we all used 3200 lipos in our cars.

I had a little over 1mm in tire wear and that was the whole race day ( 3 five minutes races and 6 minutes of practice). I did not even true down the tires I left them at full height.

I really think this is a great car and class for people who are starting out or someone who wants to race a second class at their local track.

I wouldn't hold my breath. I met the designer in Japan last summer and they said there weren't any plans for another body set. Bummer. But we've had a lot of fun making our own versions even with the Courage body set.

Thanks for the info. That paint job you did looks great. I was looking at your website and I had a question, have any of your racers run foam tires and if so what ones did you think worked the best?
