Don't forget the setups around for MR etc are for the ETS carpet. It behaves muchmore (no pun) like asphalt than traditional indoor carpet does.

Interesting point. How come ?
How does asphalt behave relative to carpet ?

Thanks

Asphalt is typically much lower grip than carpet and handling can change as tyres wear (wear is faster on asphalt)

Also, carpets tracks are typically smaller and tighter with hairpins everywhere! (Cause they are indoors in tighter confines)

I'm finalising the build / review for my site, the car is great on carpet (But I am only racing 17.5 / 13.5). I actually have started to like the Tamiya Kit springs, the Yoks (Pink f blue R) are good as well, blue is really soft for mid grip carpet and you will dig in a little.

I've also had no leaks on my diff, I think the biggest issue is that people overfill it and some of the excess just has to come out at some point.

I will include my set-up in the review (Tight indoor carpet track).

Well had my first race today with the 419, WOW is all I can say..this car is soo smooth!! due to my own fault I only got 1 good qualifier in and managed a 6th place spot in the A, ended up finishing 5th.. very very happy with this car

RCMART has the 419 for $400 + shipping. Not bad at all, time for a new chassis!

One thing I found is that if you do not soak the gasket in oil before tightening the screws, it can cause leaks as well because you can not do up the screws tight enough (when it is soaked it compresses a bit). Eventually it soaks oil anyway, but if the screws are not re-tightened, it will leak. This is valid for all diffs that use paper gaskets.

Cool, thanks for the info :)

I dont believe the dff leaking issue is from the green gasket it is from the oring and outdrive. Well at least mine is.. Im going to try some different shimming again and see if i find something that works... i forgot to measure and see if the o ring is same as kyosho like in 418

TryHard 02-16-2015 05:09 PM

I haven't run my car yet to check for any leaks, but I've certainly been very happy with how the diff has gone together. I have done a couple of things a little different to the manual, but I'm waiting to see how they go on track before I mention them.
The o-rings are the same as the kyosho's btw.

TryHard - Will you be making a RC Crew Chief suspension model for the TRF419?

Already done and dusted, just need to send it off to Bob.
Have made the model including the common suspension block options (C/C, C/B, B/B fronts, X/F, X/E, XA/E, XA/F rear), and multiple options for H5 and standard balls (which are in the item names). Also measured the steering too.

Only things I haven't done are the CoG measurements, and the unsprung mass components, but waiting to get to a decent set of scales before I add those figures. But the key geometry stuff is done, so roll centres and camber gain etc is there.. Just without the weights/cog the dynamic stuff will be off.

Which Lipo is it? LRP 6000 ? Seems quite rear heavy btw...

cplus 02-17-2015 05:05 AM

Yes, LRP 6000

It needs about 50gram in the front.
