I fully support this. This is great kit. TQ stocks parts.

Buy a metal case servo, or drill the servo mounts for four screws...

... SRT, is that "you" selling them?

Parts are available in the US @ RaceVTA, TQ Racing, INTEGY and even HobbyKing has some.

Best budget servo is the Trackstar DS-D99X, I use them in all 3 XI's and the Ultimate2014, $25 low profile servo with a 1 year warranty ... don't get any better then this. I had one DOA which was instantly replaced by HobbyKing https://hobbyking.com/en_us/tracksta...08sec-45g.html

Don't know why you would need to drill anything to mount the servo, it mounts right up to the servo mounts provided in the kit, I do like the floating servo mount and use it in all my kits Search - sak-u112 If you are hitting stuff hard enough to rip the servo out of the car then you REALLY need to slow down

Well that's kinda amusing. The servo I broke was a TS-D99X. The stock mount only uses two screw holes, and I believe if all 4 screws holes on the servo were used, I wouldn't have cracked the ear off. That's why I recommended drilling the mounts. I still have a D99X in my TA07, FF03, and I just mounted one in my XQ1s. Lets say, i'm sold on that servo.

That servo mount you posted, has three holes to mount the servo.. that might be enough too.

This was also during the "lets get the car going" phase, where on black carpet and USGT tires.. the car was spending a whole lot of time tumbling. We got that sorted out last saturday. :-)

I have craked one other servo in my time. A TS-411MG. I jumped my TT02b and it was sailing down the back straight... and there was a bump-out in the wall. Well... the car hit the bump-out. ESC, came unstuck, shock collars were lost, and the servo case cracked the entire ear off. ... That servo was glued back together, and now lives in my M07.

Yeah I don't think the HobbyKing warranty covers user damage ... so u stuck there, but if ur hitting stuff hard enough to sheer the servo out of the car then you might be better off just mounting it with double side tape so you don't damage the servo when u crash

It wasn't that hard of a hit... That's what made me kinda scratch my head. Using all 4 screw positions would have prevented it. It was a "something tried to twist the servo, and something gave" type failure.

I wasn't really looking for solutions. I'm ok. But if someone is building a new car... spend the 2 minutes, drill some of those 2.8mm holes, and get everything bolted down tightly. :-) Or, buy an aluminum mount, like you did. That would serve the same purpose.

Ran the stock servo mount with the D99X servo in 17.5 on black carpet without any issues.

I'll recheck some things tonight. But... Here's what my memory claims.

5mm ride height, with 2mm of droop.

Front shocks moved out on the tower 2 holes from stock.

Rear shocks in kit location.

Tamiya red springs in the rear.

Front tires glued to 60.5mm.

No front toe.

GT-R body with wing. (The wing is important...)

I'll post a picture or two too. Take this with many grains of salt. It's not a finished setup, but it doesn't barrel roll anytime I go into a corner, and I can do consistent laps.

moparSRT,

Earlier in the thread, you posted a picture of ball bearings soaking in a solution. What specifically did you use to degrease the ball bearings?

Best regards,
Brian
