I went with spacers - seems to handle just great

The shafts are cut ( by 3mm ) and then usually set up at 10.5mm in length..

If u don't cut the shaft u get difference in pack and u also get the shock shaft hitting the membrane which effects ur rebound

Its not easy building the schumacher shocks.. I have watched the video of Chris building the shocks and have done exactly like he does and still can't get minimal rebound.. Maybe the trick is cutting the shock shafts..

Have you tried a shock pump, just started using one about a month or two ago shocks seem easier to build.

If u have not cut the shock shaft u won't get 0 rebound.
The top of the shaft hits the bladder if it hits the bladder it will rebound out. Or use an o ring as an up stop!

So what's better cutting the shaft or using limiters inside the body??

It's easiest to use dremel cutting disk and take off 2-3mm off the bottom of the shaft.

It is all about the position of the piston and how it affects pack. It also is a problem if the shock is too long and touches the bladder under full compression.

The boys at HB have been doing for ages...

But the schuie shafts are too long from kit. Hence why MH posted to cut them and make the distance 10.6mm from bottom of shock body to top of ball end.

HTH.

Leonard.

I have cut both frt and rr wishbones. I orginally cut the frt only and liked them. I have also cut the rr now and also liked the way the car felt and handled. I race on large outdoor tracks that are bumpy.

But , if you cut the shaft the droop is modified also. ¿?¿?¿

You need the lowered shock supports????

Correct, it affects droop and adjust accordingly. I run mine at 5/4 frt/rr (under outer hinge pin).

And it because the kit shafts are too long to begin with. There is no need to for lowered shock towers when doing this mod.

This is wrong info i'm afraid, cutting the shock shaft will not affect the rebound.

The shock shaft is not too long its just that some drivers prefer to have the piston slightly lower in the shock body.

It doesn't make a huge difference.
