Looking at the new bearing set for the TT02, it seems they have now changed the axle bearings to that of the more common 1050 as used on all other on-road platforms.

The drive train still uses the old TT01 bearing sizes, 1280 for the diffs and 1150 for the drive shaft.

I have one on order so will post my thoughts when it arrives :)

BoomBap I'd stay away from RCTech when it comes to drifting. Check out Driftmission or CSJunkies for drift info. To this day RCTech still doesn't have a formal section for RC drift.

yea i got one of the first run TT02's from RCmart and just got the bearing set for the TT02 i threw it all together and with the 8.5tune burshless its fun but i know the car its self is gonna die soon lol but looks like i gotta look out for a new driveshaft

Looking at the Gear G-parts the bevel gears and cross joint is now carbon reinforced plastic and they have adopted the same configuration as the current high end gear diffs with 2 bigger outer gears and 4 small ones in the center.
The gear diff housings themselves look to be the same as the old cream coloured plastic ones as found on the TT01. Tamiya actually started to use the carbon reinforced diff housings on the last few outgoing TT01 kits and have dropped the cream ones altogether and only supply the carbon ones which use the same part number. So if you order a gear housing as a spare part and it comes cream then it is old stock!

With this in mind the old style metal bevel gears will fit and may be more durable, especially when running a low wind brushless system.
I can only assume that the plastic gears will be a little smoother and quieter....

Have you painted the Ferrari body yet Zaku808? Post a pic if you did, really want to see how tamiya handled the details on it. Looks great on the few pics I could find but they're all the same red one. Even though I still have three unpainted bodies I'm definitely picking one up when it's available on its own. :smile:

oh no i haven't painted it yet mostly because i can't paint rc bodies to save my life lol but the body is really nice (it would look better if someone else does it lol) and if i get around to it i want to try a midnight blue but i have to paint the light buckets since they're red so yea that is why everyone i know who have one have just been lazy and painted it red but for me i dont like the pre-cuts for the body post because i want to do the Velcro on the body

Mine arrived yesterday.. initial impressions is that there are lots of little tweaks that really have pushed this car way ahead of the TT01, looking forward to the build..

The body sure looks good as well :)

Just finished building my tt-02 and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Now mind you I have never heard of a single problem with tamiya kits but the fit and finish of this car is superb. Ran it on the stock 22 tooth spur and it was mildly fast no more then 25-30 kph avg. can't complain for a silver can. Quickly got bored and switched to a 9.5 turn thunderpower z3r run off of a duratrax de10 and a racers edge 6000mah 70c lipo.. Wow... I mean stock gearing 50-60 kph top speed and extreme acceleration that top speed was hit instantly. Now I have only run 2 pack through drifting around and what not so don't know how it will stand the test of time but it seems to handle the brushless power pretty well. If you are a bit hesitant on the 9.5 then 13.5 would work great and you can still gear up. Driving hard I got no significant increase in temp on the motor or esc. 8/10 for me price is a bit steep but eh it's tamiya so I am willing to fork up the extra cash

It's a nice review of the build, this was something i was waiting for to be convinced about the quality of this kit. It convinced me to buy the kit for our club endurance races. The nice body is an extra nice bonus :)

Do the TA04 universals still fit this car?

Super noob in the hobby but i purchase a TT02. no aluminum shaft yet, but i think a carbon propeller shaft will last until the aluminum ones will come up.

Is main shaft really carbon reinforced? Isn't it just glass-reinforced plastic, used on middle-class Tamiya chassis?

I believe it is carbon reinforced and there are 2. Maybe someone has any idea, if i can use tamiya 55T spur and 26T pinion? from TT01. right now the spur is 70T and 22t pinion
