Yes....this appears with or without any camber setting.
I am running on a local asphalt circuit, usually start getting such wear after ~15 packs so I am wondering is this normal.
I am using GQ 36R racing tires so it had mold insert already...and guess hard enough

I snagged up an R locally couldn't find any type S but I would go S if I could do it again

Just planning some parking lot running with my son. The S is $45 more than the R and I didn't think the difference was worth it. Is it?

I have both versions. I like the R better for the money. The R is setup pretty darn good so adjustments on the type S are nice but not really needed. For ripping in the parking lot get the R.

If you plan on tracking it, get the TT02-S. It uses the suspension arms from the 416/417 series which are much better.

I think they are all really good choices. For just running around the parking lot, you can get a TT-02 for at low as $100. If you think you might want to race it, the TT-02R comes with many of the hop-up the TT-02 Type S does not. The advantage of the TT-02 Type S is the adjustability and the fact that it uses the suspension from the 416/417 that Raman mentioned. Also, you will need to get a body with the R and the S.

I have all 3 and I've been mainly racing the Type S. I haven't build the R yet, and the standard TT-02 I take out to an open parking lot just to get some runs in.

So here are my $ 0.02 on the Type R hop ups, that the Type S doesn't have.

1. Aluminum uprights (3 degree toe-in) Nice looking but not needed. Type S has much better upright that offers better camber / roll settings

2. Aluminium motor mount - must have! However Yeah Racing gives you more flexibility for gearing. It's only time I prefer a non Tamiya Hop Up
3. 53159 4mm Aluminum Flange Lock Nut (Blue) Nice looking

4. 54247 3x18mm Aluminum Turnbuckle Shaft (Blue) x2 - nice looking.. but too soft and bend easily. Eventually you will come to the point where you may want to opt for the Titanium which are expensive!

Steel ones from TT02S are stronger albeit ugly

5. 54501 TT-02 Aluminum Propeller Shaft - must have upgrade

6. 53642 5mm Aluminum Ball Connector (Blue) nice looking, better to buy the TRF fluorine coated

7. 54500 TT-02 High-Speed Gear Set (68T) Must have

8. 54502 TT-02 Aluminum Propeller Joint Must have

Have both R and S and race both. The R, I use in TCS spec racing. That is the only reason I have the R.

The S, you have to upgrade the middle power delivery components, because on any TT-02, you should upgrade the middle.

Adjustable motor mount, prop shaft, spur gear adapter, spur, pinion, and prop joints. However you do it...

So I've got a little time on my car now. Not much but enough to know the kit springs are to stiff for three asphalt ill running on. I am running vta tires so what do I want to start with for shock springs? Right now I've got rear camber at -2 and the front is still fixed at about -2 give or take with slop. Also which springs are the right ones to buy? I have the R kit shocks on it still.

Hi all, I picked up a basic TT02 last weekend and was planning on using some old parts (shocks etc) from my very old FF01 (that is dead and I can't get parts). But last night I tried to fit the Tamiya oil filled shocks only to find that the lower mounting point fouls with the lower part of the shock. It could easily be remedied by adding a 2-3mm spacer. But before I go to all that trouble, will that cause other fitment issues down the line? Or am I dealing with an unsolvable issue?

This is my first non F1 RC car since the 90s so I'm way out of the loop with these things.

Worst case scenario, I'll just fit the standard springs as the car is for my 6 year old son to learn with. I just figured I'd use some parts from my insanely good handling FF01.

Ignore me, I figured it out. I was trying to mount the shocks to the lower A arm hole to achieve the lowest possible ride height.

But I did get a rude shock thanks to Tamiya. The kit comes with a standard silver can brushed sensorless motor... And a brushless sensored ECU! Seriously!

That ESC works with brushed OR brushless motors. It also has a lvc that is no good for LiPo's only LiFe's so be careful.

How can I get it to run the standard silver can motor? I swapped out the Tamiya ESC with an old LRP ESC but it has a known fault which doesn't allow you to accelerate at full power straight away. So I either have to go back to the Tamiya and work out how to make it work, or buy a brushless sensored motor or another brushed sensorless ESC.
