The pro for the XV-01, from a STOCK perspective, is that the kit already includes oil filled damper/shocks and full ball bearings. Both are essential for racing. The stock TT-02 does not include these unless you buy an upgraded version of the kit such as a TT-02r or other variation. One could argue that the shaft drivetrain of the TT-02 is better balanced with the motor located mid chassis, as opposed to the front motored XV-01. However, the material in the XV-01 is better quality in general and a level up from the beginner platform that TT-02 is really intended..... From my perspective, its a coin toss.... |

I live in a closed community with amazing fresh and smooth asphalt. I live on a corner entrance to a cul de sac. The main street is long enough for you to hit 100 if your car can do it. My TA05 is set up for speed with a 3.5 and sorex tires. On the main street it will hit 60. My XV-01 has a 17.5 with 30° timing hits 40mph on rallye block tyres. With the XV01, I’m able to come full throttle and left off slightly, take a 90° turn into my cul de sac, get right back on throttle. The XV will do a smooth controllable drift on to my street. If I attempt the same turn at same speed with TA05 on Sorex slicks or even USGT tyres, it will simply slide down the street. I have taken both TT02 and XV to snow, again the XV outshines it on snow. The same goes for dirt. I have actually ran my XV on a 1/8 off road track and it took the jumps like a champ.. the only one it would not clear was the big jump and if I had programmed the 17.5 for boost, it would have cleared it. |
Help with TT02D kit
Hello everyone,
First time RC builder and I’m about to get my first TT02D kit (R32). Very keen to build it!! Questions I have for you pros are: Ive read about different types of batteries and decided on Lipo 2s. However, they come in many different plug variants and even diff sizes.how to pick the right one and I guess something that will work with the stock motor and stock esc, should I just wait and just take the assembled car to the hobby shop lol? Lastly, I’ve purchased Savox sc0252 servo (read that they are decent and good value). Do you think it will be ok for the car or should I get something else? If this is discussed somewhere on this forum, please send link! Thank you all! :) |

It is pretty powerful, so that won't be an issue for your application. Hopefully someone with more drifting experience can chime in. Good luck! |
Thanks for your input! I’ve ordered the 1060 esc and now looking around for batteries. Might wait until the kit arrives to have the exact dimensions for the battery slot. Was thinking of buying Turnigy 5000mah 7.4 60c, read only good things about it. Any suggestions in the battery department? Again not sure if it has the right plug but apparently adapters are easy to get. Thanks!

Shorty Battery?
Hey guys. Just got done with my first TCS race in GT Pro Spec. Finished dead last in both qualy’s and main. I have some suspicion that some of the other guys were running a slightly lower FDR but oh well. it was a fun and a good learning experience.
Im now going to focus on weight reduction and hoping you all can help me. I want to use a shorty lipo and know that i will need to tape it down. Would it be against tcs rules to remove the stock battery strap and mounting posts since I may not need it after taping down the battery? |
Why not keep the original battery holder and fill up the free space with some foam material? This makes it also easy to do some front-rear weight shifting if necessary.
