I broke 1 diff screw in the almost 3 years of running the car. I've run anything from silver can to 10.5 foam. They seem to hold up well.

I use a total of three 0.1mm shims. I like to have some play, enough so you can just feel the motion.

If you mean the long screw that holds the diff together, then yes it's 2mm. I've never heard of this screw breaking, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. It's been the exact same screw on every late model Tamiya ball diff I've seen (since the Dyna Storm), so it must be pretty good. In fact Tamiya only recently changed out this screw on the new TRF416 to make the rear diff externally adjustable (1.5mm slot instead of a 1.5mm hex head)...

sounds about right... i measured the diff itself at the 17mm, and the 19 between the bulkheads matches up with the approx 1mm thickness of the flange on the bearing holder. i measured the diff itself, as i am fairly certain Chris is not looking to put this in a Tamiya... lol!

and i think i have broken 1 diff screw in oh, about 5 years of running most all the Tamiya stuff, TA04, EVOIII, 414, 415, TA05... etc. and yea, they are 2mm....

Ive only broken 1 diff screw in 2 years or so, due to a heavy impact to the front which took the car into flight Still, something had to give,lol.

hmmm... making an all plastic fantastic differential for a 415 might help in stock with lightweight pulleys and layshafts wherever you can find 'em....

Good luck with the spool though...

hey guys, new with on-road and the TA05 but not to racing (off-road). I will be the guy that will be picking your brains like you pick your nose. just don't eat me please.

I have driven the car and love it tremendously but i have noticed that the car kinda lacks low speed steering that i like. i took the front shocks into the inside hole hoping to gain some low speed steering and i did but not alot. so where do i go from here? my drive style is: i like to take high speed sweepers and be able to take them full throtle or close to it. low speed coners i like to carry a little speed into them, get in and haul azz out of it. i know on-road is different from off-road and i'm learning that very quickly but need to know how to get that low speed conering cause it's killing me.

Yes, that will increase your steering angle tremendously giving you the low speed steering you desire. Then you can dial back steering with the dual-rate on your controller. This in turn makes your steering quicker, but also requires more torque from the servo.

The Ackerman increase will also alter how the car behaves overall. Should be better for low-speed turns, but scrubs more speed on the high speed ones...

if you are not running sway bars, put one on the rear. that should help the low speed steering. stiffer springs up front may help too.

this is a barrowed car till i get mine in (then will setup car identical). so what i can think of off the top so far is:
sway on front only. then pretty stock from the book after that. i will take a real good look at it tonight or tomorrow and let you guys know.
