It fits..but like other said, you just cannot sit it as low as Nimh or the Carbon version of Orion Lipo....I have both LIPO from Orion and used them on the R all the time. I care the less about letting the battery sit as low as possible like other ppls think they MUST do that....as long as I have 20 minutes run time with silver can and 4800....I AM HAPPY

ok i am having trouble getting my gears to mesh. I am running a 68 spur and a 29 pinion. I cant mount the motor close enough as it hits the aluminium center panel. i have a bigger spur on the way but i didnt get it in time for racing tomorrow. i dont want to grind away the alloy but i need a quick alternate way to get the motor close enough to get the right mesh. Anyone have any ideas?

Other than that, youve gotta grind it.
If youre only running the stock ta05, the stock motor mount is cheap as chips so it wouldnt be too deep on your pockets if you ended up needing a replacement...
They dont look like a very nice material to sand down though, so be careful! (wear the usual goggles etc if youre using a dremmel)...

Use a 104/44 combination. Or a 96/41, 98/42, or 102/43. Those all fall into the 5.25-5.337 final ratio range.

I managed to race today. i put washers under the plate and raised it higher so i could get the motor under it and closer then went up a pinion gear. Car was great today. At the track i was running i managed to get .1 of a second quicker with my fastest lap time then what they get. and a total time or around 5 seconds quicker. Quiet happy with my car for the first drive.

Just wondering.....
What's you guy's opinion of the IFS system. I know it will let you run some bodies that were only available to 2WD cars, but has anybody raced it in a parking lot yet?

Could anyone tell me what the effect will be if i remove the rear sway bar? They are just the stock sway bars on it at the moment, front and back. Also does everyones TA05 tend to have a fair bit of steering slop? How could i reduce this? as my car tends to wander in a straight line.
Thanks in advance

I use 48p, but you can make your own chart for whatever you use.

sway bar
By removing the rear sway bar you will let the rear end roll more and give you more rear traction. The sway bar stiffens up the back or front end and will make it slide easier as the weight transfer side to side is less with the sway bar on. At least that's my 2 cents....
I have been running the TA05 for a year in the stock 27T brushed class and its been great. There are three guys that are flat out faster than me at our club, mainly because they have more experience and take more time tuning their cars. I've been racing for a year and generally don't mess with setups unless I have traction roll. So the O5 is great car to learn how to drive with.
This weekend I stuck a 19turn in a stock 05 with just front universals and ended up 5th. Here I did traction roll in each of the qualifiers, but had it figured out for the final.
So to anyone thinking about picking up a TA05 kit is definately a good buy.
My current setup costs were as follows:
TA05 kit - 100 US New
GTS speed controller - 78 CDN
19 turn motor - 55 CDN
Foam tires - 16 US
Radio/receiver - 80 CDN - USED DX2
Total cost - $329
If you're interested in it PM me as it might be forsale shortly minus the radio.
