Drill a 3mm hole in the Ball cup and unscrew the whole ball stud, instead of unsnapping it every time

Yeah thats the best thing to do, otherwise i use long nosed pliers to grip the ball cup on the arm and twist it off.

fjm9898, i think there were comments about it a couple of weeks back.

Personally i wouldnt bother playing with the mounting positions just stick to your normal settings. Its probably not gunna make that much of a difference unless you are a top driver, otherwise everyone would be using the different mounting positions.

Grr, I bought a 31T pinion. Too small! Won't reach the Spur 100T.

Does that mean that the Cyclone is not suited to running motors below 11T? I have an 11x2T Team Checkpoint. What pinion should I run with the stock 100T spur? Anyone run Checkpoint with the Cyclone?

Thanks!

Buy a bigger spur, 108 is meant to be the max for 64 pitch. Although you can squeeze in a bigger spur if you lightly file down parts and dont mind it sticking out slightly under the chassis.

Which car do you have?
If you have the original, a little filing on the CF plate will help it clear the spur. On the alloy middle braces, I think it's fine.

A 110 will fit and sit either flush or just out of the chassis. I run a 3.5R with a 110/25 combo with no issues. Given that I get to the track like once a month if I'm lucky and that our track is outdoors and surrounded by trees.. it would be easy to surmise that spur gets ripped to shreds.
(My car runs on crash-o-hol)

However - it's running great! It getting more chewed up from the pinion wearing than anything else..

You probably shouldnt. We are talking about the middle mount which goes behind the spur/top deck and using a bigger spur. Best to use the carbon middle mount as its easier to file lightly.

Why do you want to run such a hot motor?

You would need a 108 tooth spur gear to use a 31 tooth pinion gear, and you don't need to file anything. Your roll-out might be okay for your 11x2.

106/32 or a 106/34 is perfect for a stock or 19T brushed motor.

Take that 100t spur gear you have and go hide it somewhere, it's useless unless you go brushless and run a motor with a low KV.

Default Brushless motor mount

Has anyone run the new brushless motor mount. I know it moves the layshaft 2mm higher allowing the use of bigger spurs, but what i am wondering is, does it allow the motor to move more towards the rear of the car so I can achieve a mesh with smaller pinions and bigger spurs? It looks as if it does in pictures, but I wld like someone to confirm before I buy one.

At the moment I have to change between 96, 100, 105 and 110 spurs depending on wether I'm racing stock brushed, stock brushless, 19t or mod, and itrs a bit of a pain. Its not a huge job to change them, but would be much better if it didn't need done all the time.

For some reason, it's the only motor I have on hand. Unless someone wants to take a brand new Team Checkpoint 11T off my hands...

Sorry for all the questions guys, but will 31/108 and 37/108 fit in the Cyclone? Those are what I am considering running for the 11T and the CO27.

I've got a 106/32 and have enough room to 108 without the gear sticking out of the bottom of the chassis.

You'd probably be okay, try it and see if you get a heat issue!
