This was the chassis that finished second at last years carpet nats (McKune variety). Very good driver mind you and almost pulled off the win.
My feelings, don't add the IFS. Only add the Exo lower front arm braces. Skip the adjustable upper arms. Gear it right, not gear the piss out of it. Make sure it rolls free and doesn't bind at all. It does have more infield speed and corners better than an F104. At 7 minutes you will be running as fast as lap 1 with a minute to go. The F104 has been known to start to lose front traction and fall off the longer the race goes.
And finally, practice.

wheels are cheap, but tires aren't.
unglued the short course tire, found acetone works really well.
Then found my old pit shimizu rear tires that I basically gave up (california hot weather + glued a bit too much on the outside of tire wall trying to stiffen it up), thinking I may unglue it and do it right again, ruined a whole bowl of acetone...

I used nail polish (with % acetone) only on the portion of rubber glued to the rim. Managed to remove the tires without noticeable damage to rim.

i hear you, but i havent ran it on carpet only an asphalt prepared track. i cant get anywhere close to my f104 times. im talking .5 sec slower and i have been racing f1 for 3 or so years now. my track has a lot of tight 180 corners and thats probably why its slower. im not saying it cant be faster than a 104 but it definately needs a lot of work to get there. i built my exotek f104v1 and threw it on the track and i get at least top 3 finish. i build this car and only manage fith or below. idk, maybe im missing something in the setup. if anybody would like to offer advice im open.
Using the speed calc @ http://scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/top_speed.html
Direct Drive: 93/24 top speed - 24.97
FGX: 35/25 top speed - 26.25

FYI, A 93/28 64P for an F104 results in a potential top speed of 29.13 mph if the motor can still push hard enough. That is very aggressive gearing, but I've run similar on my F103, avatar pic. It gets a little hot and there are no brakes to speak of. I do feel the top end was soft, trying to rev more, but out of torque. Gearing the F103 back to a 24 pinion, it kept the same top end and accelerated better, cooled down and I also magically had brakes again.

I would buy it from whoever has it. Not sure when Mike R of Exotek is going to announce it. My guess would be after Christmas or even the end of the month/year.
