Build Update [7]
The car is technically done and ready for driving and testing. My last two orders had huge delays, so I decided to work around. I am very happy with the 951g without additional balancing weights. I know that paint, stickers and helmet will add a bit, but still under the 1000g`s. Here are some pics:

Wow... 951g is incredible... I am also having huge delays with my parts manufacturer(Dynotech racing)...Hopefully he will come through soon... I don't think my car will get under 1000g though....

It's hard to tell, but it also looks like it's running HPI (hex) style wheels/tires all around, which means they won't be compatible with Tamiya stuff (except old F201 wheels/tires).

I'd personally really like to see the F1 classes move in this direction, as it seems odd that the real-world pinnacle of racing is a spec pan-car class in R/C. But, I already got burned by the F201, which was released to much fanfare then not supported at all by Tamiya, who abandoned the high-tech concept to go back and release more F103 cars and eventually the F104.

Edit: Just noticed a couple more things; looks like it's a 2-speed gearbox.

Also: What's with the "spare" screw-holes in the chassis, and adjustable turnbuckle below the damper pushrods that ties the rear transmission/bulkhead to the front of the upper chassis (see quoted picture below)? Is this going to be an adjustable wheelbase car? Just speculation on my part...

I feel your F201 pain...

Pretty cool upgrades. I also wanted to do an aluminium outer joint, but I do not have the right tools and the CNC-shops i asked were pretty expensive. Never the less I am pretty stalked about your mods and cant wait to see them installed. Thumbs up.

I will need to switch the 27t 48p 5mm bore pinion to a 26t due to the mesh being too tight. Hopefully it will free up some horsepower....

Most will keep running 540 motors, but for the record you can gear the fgx as high as needed by using these combo gears between the layshaft gear and ball diff/spool:
#1: 60t diff spur and 26t layshaft for 2.7259 internal ratio.
#2: 58t diff spur and 27t layshaft for 2.5375 internal ratio.
#3 : 55t diff spur and 31t layshaft for 2.0957 internal ratio
#4 : 52t diff spur and 34t layshaft for 1.8066 internal ratio.
#5 : 49t diff spur and 37t layshaft for 1.5643 internal ratio.
You will get a looser gearmesh(0.39mm gap) with the 27t vs the 26t(0.25mm gap), while all the other gears will be tighter(0.12mm gap)...The fgx can run very tall gearing for sure with the 5mm bore 48p layshaft mod....Cheers....
