Actually, I hope Exotek makes delrin lowers for the front like they do for the rear. Delrin is vastly superior to Aluminum for arms since it's lighter weight and still has marginal flex.

Sad to say racers have slowly abandoned the FGX in favor of direct drive cars in our club races. But I still believe the car is good, so I decided to race it last Sunday (I hardly race as I am the organizer).
Here were the qualifying times.
Ignore the TQ guy... he is a freak! hahaha.
1. Tamiya F104v2
2. Tamiya F103
3. Tamiya F103
4. FGX <- me
And after 3 x 15 minutes...
I still think I can squeeze more cornering speed into it. Maybe a rear roll bar.
Right now it is box stock and surprisingly after 6 months, nothing broken. Even with huge flights in the air...

But still, it's relatively heavy, and (with all the plastic parts) not as strong either.
Then to reinforce it, exotek front arm is 10g heavier, lower arm reinforcement is another 10-20g heavier, each piece of aluminum upgrade is 5-20g heavier, etc, etc...
Well, personally, my beautiful eye candy weights 1200g using shorty, and I haven't had aluminum bulkhead on yet.
----
meanwhile, on well maintained flat surface, like indoor carpet, and most of our outdoor tracks in US, independent rear suspensions doesn't give that much of advantage anyways. Especially power is limited to 21.5t or silvercan.
----
Like most racers, when you get a chance of getting into the top group, you will get serious, try every possible way just to improve a little bit.
Then when it gets really hard core, you will end up with a F104 instead...
----
For me, it doesn't matter. I don't/can't have a F201, neither do I like the 4wd of F201. FGX for me is a eye candy just to watch, and run/race casually. I happy enough for it.

This was the chassis that finished second at last years carpet nats (McKune variety). Very good driver mind you and almost pulled off the win.
My feelings, don't add the IFS. Only add the Exo lower front arm braces. Skip the adjustable upper arms. Gear it right, not gear the piss out of it. Make sure it rolls free and doesn't bind at all. It does have more infield speed and corners better than an F104. At 7 minutes you will be running as fast as lap 1 with a minute to go. The F104 has been known to start to lose front traction and fall off the longer the race goes.
And finally, practice.
