What is the major difference between lrp x12 and epic duo 3 ? Torque, feeling

On the tech info d3 have amazing 4300 rpm per Volt. Lrp have 3600 and speedpassion 3800

Thanks

X12 has mad torque but not super high rpms. D3 is best of both worlds IMO.

And don't believe anyone's spec sheets when it comes to different companies...

I was running on a x12 10.5 with a tekin

45 boost 15 turbo make the x 12 screaming with 8.0 fdr

But i wasnt like how to the power come, too much brutal.

I hope the d3 is smoother than the lrp when the timing is coming.

More than likely your Tekin settings and/or the inherent characteristics of the Tekin.

3. Tune RS to get max timing whilst keeping temps way cool
4. Get new and more accurate Temp gun!

I've been running SP b4 and no issues with temps.

I've been in the hobby 3 years+ now and this was my first cooking, bit disappointed I guess!
I have had a similar experience to you since new software came out for the speed passion. Definitely run zero endbell timing and less timing in the motor. Stick to your FDR for now though. I have never had a problem with temps on my d3 21.5 when I ran a ratio between 4.2 up to 5.4. Soon as I started going higher than that, I stuffed 2 d3's (which need a new strator). Though my track has a much longer straight than what yours sounds like it does. So sticking close to 6 should be fine to start with.

Default Duo 1 vs. Duo 3???

I'd love to hear peoples comparisons of the Duo 1 vs. Duo 3 motors.

Which is best? (I love my Duo 1)

Always fun going to the big races and seeing how many try something other than their Duo 1s in the stock classes. And switch back...

Still using my original Duo 1s from EA for 13.5/17.5. Got to be 2 years old.

The Duo 1 always seems to be the fastest motor and we have 'lots' of guys at the club Running 17.5 boosted with the D1, D2 and D3 variants. You can tell when someone is running a D1 as they scream but Everyone who has them uses them sparingly and usually only for big events. Maybe its the timing we are giving the motors but the old one's do not seem to fade as easily at 4 minutes like the new ones do. A lot of guys are still running the D2 over the D3 and although the D3 can handle lots of timing, its in a much smaller sweet spot IMO. Just a matter of whether you can be bothered and have the time to find it.

Default Tuning rotors

Hi all, am trying to figure out what the different tuning rotors do and would appreciate it if someone can enlighten me.

I have looked at the tuning rotor chart that someone posted awhile back. While it did list the suitability with regards to the different classes of vehicles, it doesn't say how the powerband will be altered.

For eg, going from a 12.3mm broad powerband rotor to a 12.3mm high torque rotor,
A. does it allow for a larger pinion to be used for the same vehicle speed and yet runs cooler?
B. How does the motor's response to dynamic timing advance get affected by such a change? Does the timing advance rob the stator of its ability to turn the stronger rotor, meaning the motor doesn't work as well with high timings?

In addition, what really happens when we change the SIZE of the rotor from a 12.3 rotor to a 12.5 rotor? Or even a 13mm rotor?

Thanks in advance

radwerx,
Regarding tuning rotors. My limited experience with Trinity / Epic D3 tuning rotors is that you are required to buy a rotor tester. I bought about 5 different tuning rotors from epic/trinity and they weren't consistent at all. Two bought at different times, that were supposed to be the same strength were quite different ( about 10 % ) . And another one was crazy unacceptably low ( 800 gauss when it should have been at the very least 1200 ).

I was told flatly by epic / trinity email support that the rotor magnet strength was not a warrantee item. I basically was told I was SOL even though the rotor had never been used, right from the package and was 2/3rds as strong as it was supposed to be. Sad, because I'll never buy another tuning rotor from Epic / Trinity due to this policy.

Thankfully , I was very lucky and got great trackside support from EA at the Reedy race. He offered me a replacement.

Loosen the three screws on the endbell. Twist the sensor input.
