Hi joey, first thing I would do is change your motor to no more than a 4.5t and as for suspension you could raise the rear shocks up a hole or two and also give your car more front droop, eg increase from 6mm to 5mm.
Ps see you in feb at TITC

Thank you justin v and napoleon1981 for the info. I will try both suggestions out. I wanted to buy a 4.5T but the hobby store was out of stock at the time so I ended up buying the 4.0T.

Does anyone tested the CSO Convention Kit for 417X? (cso.com.hk/htdocs/modules/tadnews/index.php?nsn=249)

I´m searching for a chassis that could reduce the flex on high grip conditions (Carpet). Maybe the CSO chassis above or the new Smokem MX Chassis.

Any experiences with one of that or an advice for me? Thanks alot

Have you looked at the Ready race edition chassis? It includes a 2.5mm chassis and a thicker top deck. I just installed them on my car and I'll be testing next weekend.

Exotek also has two different chassis for the 417, soft and hard. Take a look at that too. Just more choices.

Anyone have a "new" stock TRF417 chassis for sale? Right now I have the "X" and I was looking for the first edition.

The CSO is very soft because it has fiberglass glass layers in it. The Smokem will give you similar stiffness to Tamiya 2.5mm chassis but with better smoothness and slightly lower roll center due to being 2.25mm. If you need to go even stiffer use the Tamiya 2.25mm top deck.

For the last few weeks I've been struggling with my 417X. We've switched over to a new control tyre and everyone else seems to be getting on well with them. After some weeks of tuning I have the car almost handling sweetly with just a bit of over rotation on exit. The issue I have is the car still feels like it's floating on top of the carpet instead of digging in, I don't feel confident with the car and sometimes I'm doing a lot of work with steering and throttle to keep it on line.

So I was wondering what you guys do to get the car to dig in and feel confident and consistent on carpet?

I've attached a set up sheet and left the shocks as TRF with #450 in but actually I've started using the AME TSHOX which has helped make the car feel smoother but still not dig in. Is anyone else using the TSHOX and do they have a set up for carpet for them?

Also from this set up sheet I have tried Tamiya springs white/blue, these just took away a little steering but no help and a slower lap time. 1k diff oil made the car too under steer and I had full lock in the sweeper. Shorter wheelbase made the car nervous. Standing shocks up made the car feel like it had less grip.

Here is the set up sheet, any advice is appreciated http://static.quantra.webfactional.com/ask_rctech.pdf

TIA!

You could lower your inner camber links for some camber gain. And moving the battery back would make the car transition a little harder.

That appears to be a broken link I'm afraid.

For the previous control tyre I used 3mm under the camber links and when I moved to the new tyre putting 4mm under them helped me gain some grip. Before I did that it was like driving on ice. Will give it another go though, nothing to lose! Thanks for your suggestions =]
