It very much could be the tires - Our tires are only really good for 1 run (in modified - stock can get 2-3 runs) and then degrades fast. What would you suggest to do?

Unfortunately the rules for this season (in Denmark) is 7-minute-heats. It really is tough for the equipment.

I run 7mn here in france for my regional championship, we can use tires we want. I now use Sorex 40 because of the hot weather here in south france, and my car is perfect 6mn, last mn it begin to slip.
The thing you could do is to not warm the tires before the run, try to make a setup to keep the tires temp on all the tire, not only the inner or outer. Try less camber (1,5°), less toe and less camber change.

Hi

I wonder can you use the Sakura zero diff pulleys on the 416 / 417? As that's going to give a FDR of 2.0 for the 417 as they are 38t

Default 417 Gear Diff Lube

Hi, Just got the new Tamiya Gear Diff II (White)
Does anyone know what viscosity oil comes in the kit. All it says is Tamiya Damper Oil. It looks pretty thin maybe 1000 wt?
Has anyone used this oil and does it leak?

Oil is 900.
It is in my diff but haven't run it yet.
So far in the car it isn't leaking and the diff is butter smooth.

regards Roy

I ran 2000 in mine for about 6-8 runs and it was bone dry afterwards.

ran mine (ver2 gear diff) with 1000wt oil and it worked fine... very minimal leaking near the outdrives (especially when compared to my spec-r gear diff that couldn't hold anything in except for putty). will try with 800wt oil and see if i can get more corner entry speed

No leaking on the second fill. Dunno if the orings expanded or what. Running mod tonight, too. Big improvement over the spec-r. 2000 cst again.

Default Gear Diff II Build

Thanks for the responses, how about the build? Are you putting it together as Jilles says a few posts back. Sand tabs off and use three washers?

I did.
But then again, i sand all the gears inside the geardif on all brands(Tamiya,3Racing and Spec-R).
It gives you a smoother running diff.

Yep, same here. Gears sanded flat and 3 shims per side.
