RC Pete, I had similar issues with some screws and locktite.....If you take you soldering iron heat the screw up and that should break down the locktite to a point where you would be able to remove the screw....just dont grab the screw like I did and burn the crap out of your fingers:lol:

+1 on the www.AvidRC.com bearing products. They are affordably priced, work fantastic and are durable. I have put approximately 1.5 hours of actual runtime on the Revolution type bearings in the car, had several wrecks learning TC6 handling characteristics and have had no issues with bearing failure.

I just installed the Spec R diff on the rear with 40 wt oil. Feels smoother than my ball diff??? But had to file the output shaft coupling down on both sides or the plastic CVD blades will bind badly.
Dunno how those plastic gears will hold up though... |
Yes 40Wt is pretty light. If you want a tighter "feeling" you should use thicker oil. I just can't wait for the official AE gear diff. :D

You shouldn't have filed the outdrives as the blades are plastic and easy to replace besides they only need a little sanding. just take off about a few thousandths with 400 grit on a flat surface. The gears will be fine as long as the mesh is set close. Check the play in the gears after a day of running and re-shim the main output ring gears as needed to get the mesh right. spec-r has shims in .1mm as well as the new carbon reinforced gears for less than $10 shipped. |

I'm getting ready to run my TC6 in VTA on a carpet track. Is it recommended I switch to 64 pitch gears. My track is 70'x40' medium to high grip surface. Any recommended setups and gearing will help a lot.

64p gears are better to get right gear ratio. Thanks. |
Tc6 & tc5
I have just moved over to the Tc6 from Photon and all i can say is wow:)
Just wanted to know how the tc5 is compared to the tc6 as i can get one really cheap (tc5 is a foam spec car will it wotk on rubber) Thanks |
sadly there is a massive difference in how they perform. you can make the 5 come close but it takes some work. the foam will work just try and get the softer top deck.

I agree with Jason! I would not buy a TC5 anymore. It is fast, but it will cost you a lot of effort until it feels comfortable on track. And it maybe will never be as easy and fast to drive over a race distance like the TC6. So save your money and time.
I planned to use my TC5 for the outdoor season after I drove the TC6 in the winter indoors. The day was no fun at all even though the car was balanced and setup well. I then sold it shortly afterwards because I knew I would never touch it again... |
