What exactly are you looking for? A starting point in regards to gearing and setup? Or a starting point in regards to what electronics/motor/ESC to buy?

Would anyone not want to run sway bars or run a single one on a med to high bite technical asphalt track???

Just wondering...

No I'm using the one that came with the car. Can I use the off-road t-nut?

cwoods34 10-26-2011 12:36 PM

I never had issues with the stock t-nut with ANY motor.....

With regards to the swaybars...... I think it depends on what motor you are running. I've only wanted swaybars on fast flowing tracks.......

PM's replied also......

Really, there is nothing wrong with the stock T Nut in the kit. But it is very easy to over tighten. Why they felt the need to use a different one when the offroad one is better, I'm not sure. But just switching to the offroad t nut won't solve the issues. Not just that alone. I think you may just need a new screw and nut. It just might be worn. But for the extra little $, just change the whole thing. It's only $1 more or something.

This is the only time I take the swaybars off.

I need some help with my spool. So I was doing 17.5 and my spool work really good now I'm going to mod and my spool gets lose all the time and I tightened it really good . I even try red threadlock. I can really use some help. thank you

You may want to check that the thrust assembly is working correctly. I and others had problems with the TC5 slipper spool coming loose before we realized that we needed to put thrust bearings in it.

cwoods34 10-26-2011 01:13 PM

Perhaps the slipper pads are dirty/worn/glazing over. That'd cause them to slip no matter how tight you have it. This could possibly be causing the screw to back out..... just speculation though, I haven't experienced that myself.

A Starting point in gearing as far as what to buy,

For non-boosted 17.5, I would start around a 4.0 FDR. Using 64p gears, I would shoot for 48/96.

You could make little wet and dry "washers" to replace the spool pads and glue them in place, change bolt and nut for sure and even use loctite before assembly.

Should not move now....

There is a new locked spool coming out in November too.

And YES a check of thrustrace is a must

Thanks for all the help I try it

FYI, I broke two sets of the Spec-R gear diffs on the first and second battery pack with my 4.5 motor. Sanded the back of the spider gears and everything... Needless to say I can't wait for the AE units to start shipping.

You should have a good look at this, there is a problem, to break one gear could happen, but two...it is very strange.

I put 3-4 packs with a 3.5 on mine and they held up fine.....

I only changed back to a front spool for setup purposes.
