It has nothing to do with the shape of the bodies, but the scope of the class Rob defined. It’s suppossed to be a GT class featuring GT cars. The DP is a prototype, and while it races on track with GT cars, it is a different class. USGT is supposed to be GTE, GT3, GT4 etc. The Pzero is based off of the Zonda, which did have a few privateer GT entries, so it fits the scope of the class. It’s not officially licensed, so it just looks similar. Just like how the Protoform PFM10 resembles a McLaren MP4-12C GT car. So while the Pzero looks like the DP, it represents a completely different class of car, hence why one is legal, the other is not.

I laugh at this... I love the loose interpretation of the body guidelines when it comes to the two cars that are have no marketable name sake.... we say it’s a this or that, but the manufactures didn’t say what they are.... PZero is not a car.... the PFM-10 is not a car. These are made up! 🤣

From PFM-10 from THEIR website...

“The PFM-10 takes its styling cues from the British supercars that call the esses of Silverstone and Brands Hatch home. This realistic, GT-style body features a low-slung, cab-forward design sure to provide exceptional handling characteristics while also looking stunning on the track.”

This definition is spot on why NOT to allow this type of body to run.

Then you have a manufacture that goes through the problem to actually name the car it represents... even a corvette no less... and bamn it illegal.

Ha!!

So, it appears nobody understands licensing. Some car manufacturers are very strict. Some are lax. In any case, sometimes small alterations have to be made to design and name so that toy car bodies can be sold without lawsuits. There are also toy car body makers who fly under the radar, or try to. That is their prerogative to take the risk.

In any case, I always look for realism, name not withstanding. I have rejected bodies for that reason.

I guess Exotek and Protoform couldn’t get licenses cheap enough for official bodies. If they said they were something they aren’t, then they would likely face a lawsuit.

They are based off of mid-motored GT cars, so I don’t see why they don’t fit the scope of the class? I know there are many legal corvette bodies for USGT. You must be referring to the McAllister Corvette DP body, which is a prototype body. It was labeled a corvette, but did not resemble a corvette aside from a similar grille and lights (it was mid-motored and a prototype tube frame chassis). IRL The GT cars have to be represented by street going versions, and are really just modified street cars. A prototype is purpose built for racing. Two totally different classes, and why the Riley DP and Corvette DP don’t fall under “GT” cars, and therefore outside the scope of this class.

The description for the PFM10 sounds exactly like the scope of the class, a street based GT race car. It references Silverstone and Brands Hatch, both racetracks very close to where McLaren is headquartered. McLaren is the British supercar manufacturer referenced. It even says it takes styling cues from their cars. Then a little blurb about how mid-motored race cars have great performance and balance on track. Sounds like a GT car to me. Hence the legality.

The USGT body list would Destroy any Questioning Android , Rouge computer or Vulcan on Star Trek (TOS) :)

Which tamiya on the approved body list handles the best?

I was looking at the Raybrig NSX - Concept-GT ITEM# 51563

Any other options?

Try the Tamiya Subaru BRZ R&D body. It has been the go to body at TCS races. Its very stable and has a lot of steering.

To save yourself the headache you will want to trim the front lip and rear diffuser.. which will enable you to lower the body. There are two version of the body now.. standard which comes with decals and livery and lightweight, which is just the body

I ran the standard as my car barely makes weight as it is..

For wing, I recommend this one

Nearest on road track that I know of is RC madness in Enfield CT. It's a little over an hour to get there from Worchester.
