So, i'm looking for a FWD body for my USGT car. Any suggestions? I'd like to avoid VW. And if I can manage, a lightweight body.

The VW is the choice for TCS racing, so there must be some reason for that...
Otherwise Tamiya RC Body Set Beams Integra ITEM#50968 MonTech MB-012-004 Mon-Tech RS-SPORT CUP Body 190mm HPI #7340 - TOYOTA CELICA if you can find one The Build RC HONDA CR-Z PC 195mm Clear Part #: rcvp334310158 3Racing LBD-CIVICMK9 - Civic MK9 Body Delta Plastik 0031 - 406 Racing These are bodies on the list that are (supposedly) available. We added FWD bodies to try to encourage FWD guys to race. However, if you can get your hands on a FWD body that is not listed (2 door please), I don't have a big problem with that. Protoform had several Hondas now discontinued that may be floating around hobbyshops/the internets..same with Tamiya and HPi. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...ba1db77a75.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...e263e62ba6.jpg |
The Civic looks to be the thing. I've got a GT-R body on there now, but something rubs me the wrong way with godzilla having no back legs. Yaknow? Time to go body hunting.

Just finished up my first USGT body, the McAllister MX Stang. I think it looks great! Probably my best paint job to date, all rattle cans. I wanted to keep the car painted my favorite color, orange, but keep it realistic. I based the paint as a mix of this Trans AM mustang:

It's only 6 degrees here, so a little cold to go outside for pics, anyway here it is: https://i.imgur.com/1dO3ZOW.jpg https://i.imgur.com/9x9euoa.jpg https://i.imgur.com/55XXYQ8.jpg |
The body drives awesome!

Been a while since I raced USGT, but this time on black carpet instead of asphalt. What body is recommended for a tight black carpet track? And are you guys gluing sidewalls on the tires or no?

I like the MX Stang does well on the black carpet

MX Stang lots of steering, pays to raise the rear wing if the car is a little loose
P Zero Steers well, more planted than MX, feels "safer", but may be too planted for some I still need to get my PF corvette out there, but I hear it is good when the traction is up on black carpet, as other bodies get twitchy NSX - several varieties, but most are pretty composed overall. Both Tamiya varieties (IFS low nose 2007 and standard 2005) are very good, if heavy. |
Thanks guys, I have an old HPI NSX that is still in reasonable shape that I will try. Any input on gluing of sidewalls for high traction black carpet? Yay or nay?

The Tamiya VolkswagenGolf24 is readily available and it works well.. The Tamiya BEAMS Integra also works great, but is a little hard to find currently. Tamiya Scirocco also works and has a bit more 'rotation' and comes in a lightweight version unlike any of the aforementioned.
while we are mentioning FWD bodies, The 3Racing Castrol Civic is flat out 'planted'.. hands down the best imo.. |
Anyone else try the tamiya petronas lexus RCF? I just got one and it seems to handle very good alittle tail happy not the greatest rear traction but it rotates well. I’m goong to try a more touring style wing from a protoform camaro z28 see if that helps at all.
