Except no one has found the magic formula for getting the car to have the low end torque that the TC3 has. Everything I have tried has come at the expense of top speed.

Default Lowered roll center blocks

When using the new lowered roll center blocks do you have to run a longer shock length or leave it as std? Also i have on order the shorter threaded shock bodies but do you need to run a shorter shock shaft with them? and can i run them front and rear?(the shock bodies) The other week when i ran my std xxx-s on carpet in mod foam the car felt quite unstable, do you think the lower blocks will cure this and shud i get the front ones as well as the rear ones? Thanks Rick

Rick-

What setup are you running and what type of track? Carpet or Concrete. If Carpet go to the Losi sight and look at Adnrew Gray's s etup. It is solid. Just move all the shocks out on the shock tower, that is the only change he has made. I think he was running a 6 turn Mod last time I raced with him. That was before Clevland..Now he is a Trinity Boy.

Rick if you put the low roll center on the car you can use the same length shocks you have now. In the front there is less need for the new short shocks or trimming the standard ones with loe roll center. In the rear you never want to use short shocks, with low roll they would be too short. If you use the new short shock bodies you do want to use shorter shafts in them to get the piston down in the middle of the shock out of any air you may have in the shock. Hope this helps.

Thanks in Advance
Anyone have any good setups that they have found???

Here is a true tire puzle! I have yok 138g tires on ofna dish rims and 138g tires on Yok dish rims (same inserts) The ofna rims are like inch up rims, in that they are about 2mm or 1/8" larger in diameter than the Yok rims (same width). The XXXS with the Yok rims is planted and with the Ofna rims it's on ice! You can pinch a bit of rubber on the Yok rims but the Ofna rims make the rubber nice and snug. Here is the question; Why is there such a difference between the two? I would have thought that the snug tires would hold better because they wouldn't roll but that is not the case! We race on carpet.

jjmud- The only thing that I can think of is that due to the Ofna being an inch up type rim it's contact patch may not be as wide as the Yok rim. The inch up should give you a smaller sidewall so there shouldn't be as much sidewall flex (if any) The regular Yok rim should have more sidewall flex but since it isn't stretching the tire (making it a bit taller) the over all contact patch should be greater. I could be wrong as I have never run an inch up rim but this is the only explaination that I could come up with. I will ask around to see if I can get you a fact based answer.

jjmudd-It is the differance in the air gap between the tire and the insert that is making the big traction differance. The more air gap you run in a given tire the more traction it will have, if you go with to much the car may feel inconsistant changing directions. This is why rim and insert solection is so critical in sedan carpet racing on carpet.

It could also be that the tire may be under tension. it would be like running a ton of undamped spring and it will keep the tire from being planted.

jjmud - I run 138Gs on Ofna wheels with Yok inserts and it does have to do with the air gap inbetween the tire and insert. Because the Ofna wheels are like inch-ups, they pretty much eliminate any tire/sidewall flex. The result seems to be a more precise and nimble car at the sacrifice of traction. I also run Sorex 32Rs and 36Rs on the same rims but with HPI inserts. There is some (minimal) air gap between the insert and the tire. Basically this is like having a "squishy" tire or running a softer insert. That's probably why you are noticing more traction.

Saturday darren ran a set and they looked pretty good and turned a couple of 9.0's in mod. Thats pretty fast. The carcus looks to be more round than that of the sorex's.
