xray steering knuckles
Hi,
If I was to run the xray steering knuckles and use the outer hole, what size shims would i need to get the ackerman back to a similar kit setup (4mm) ?

Matt, 2mm, just look at the arms when you move them. This does change the steering a little, makes the arc larger so steering is more linear from start to end point.

Regarding ackerman I was also wondering if changes in the track width via the FR blocks changes ackerman?
I was never really good a geometry but it would seem that the longer steering arms from the track width would change the ackerman angle..
With my setup it seemed the bigger the block eg a 1.0 or 1.5 FR block.. then the less ackerman shims you needed to be like the 4mm ackerman with standard FR blocks.. Anyone else find this...

Man you guys get really excited .
It's official now, I'm back! I ran the TCX all weekend testing it in parking lot tracks and I'm pretty pleased with how things are going so far. Just need to work on getting the the car to be a little more edgy/aggressive and I'll be happy!

I usually started with a 0.5mm spacer on the steering rack. Usually 0-1mm is the happy range for them in my opinion. The idea is to maintain the same link angle as the stock ones with 4mm, so the overall ackerman is affected as little as possible. Tamiya knuckles still are a little different in other aspects of their geometry though, so they will feel different.
