TRF414-development history...

Yes, very interesting. I remember one Tamiya car was released with very small numbers some time ago. I think price was in the 1500-2000 $ range and about 500 kits worldwide only. Was this the TRF414X?

It was 200 pieces, all numbered from 001 to 200, imprinted on the rear gearcasing. The price was more like 1000$.

How did you shorten your servo wire?

Cut the wire and re wire the connector back on.

Looks nice and clean Dave!

Well I ran my Evo IV for the first time today in 19t. Stock setup was okay with it. I switched to AE Gold up front and Blues in the rear like Dave mentioned. Worked out pretty good. I didn't have time to do the shocks. So I took them off my 415. So I think they had 2 hole pistons with maybe AE 40wt in them.

I had one issue with the car though. First time I ran it.. the car felt like it wanted to drift to one side. Plus it also felt like it would turn good goin one way, but push alittle goin the other. Ended up that the left rear had 3° toe in like it was suppose to. The right rear had 4° toe in! I check to make sure the axle was not bent. The hinge pins not bent. The suspension blocks were on straight. Luckily I had spare hubs. So I took off the right rear hub and tossed on a new one. Problem solved. Right rear was now at 3° like it was suppose to be. Looks like I got a defective rear hub. Not uncommon with any manufactor.

Anyways, car felt pretty good. Now just give me some time to work on some setups for both stock and 19t. Gonna try and get a diff together for carpet later this year. Should be fun.

dave wouldnt putting pro4 suspension be the same as putting a brittler version of the old tamiya suspension on the car? how i understand it from what i was told, the pro4 suspension matches the evo3 suspension to the bone...?

V12 08-08-2004 01:23 PM

From what I know the Pro 4 arms are longer than the EVO III/415/414 arms but the new Tamiya arms are even longer.
But I could be wrong itīs just what I heard. I have no Pro4 to prove it.

Evo_Uk 08-08-2004 01:28 PM

i remember a friend of mine got his 415 and his friend got a pro4 , hel told me they removed the drive trains more or less and disected and measured and the pro4 is more or less a replica of the suspension geometry

I had 414X, #34. Tamiya even engraved my name on the plaque. It wasn't $1000. More like $470, shipped/billed directly by Tamiya.
