Trying to get people to buy a personal transponder at our track is like pulling teeth.
Very Hard.

Yeah, but if you started charging $5/night to rent them...

We are a fairly small club who shelled out a couple years ago for a loaner transponder set and scoring system. We just recently had to have most replaced (thankfully under warranty) and found out how much it would have cost us had they NOT been warrantied. We could do it, but why...only 3-4 people don't have PT's here. We were talking about just this thing after our race this past weekend--if we ever had to replace the "house" transponders we'd be better off, WAY better off, to buy 20 PT's and sell them at a discount rate.

As it is, I'm all for selling the loaner transponders and making the people getting the free ride either crap or get off the pot. I bet they all crap--PT's just aren't that expensive compared to everything else we buy, they last forever. It just shouldn't be an issue, certainly not an issue that a small club or even a small track/shop should have to deal with.

Plus, how ANYONE would want the pita that goes with retrieving and returning loaner transponders when with a PT you "set it and forget it".

My local track is a rent to own thing. You "rent" a personal each time but you own it after it's paid for. Seems to work out pretty well.

I do like the rent to own idea. I'll have to bring it up at our next meeting.

I just started running stock 1/12 scale a local track on carpet. What speed control profile do most of you guys use for this combo using the LRP Competition 2 speed control.

I'm running the Automaic Brake setting on 2(scale is 1-5, 5 being the strongest setting). Just wondering if I should forget using it considering I'm on carpet.

I use profile 5 myself

Anyone has a picture of PRC chassis (link plate)? How's its performance?

You should try no brake at all. We set our throttle so the car rolls at neutral. Stock racing is all about maintaining corner speed, so you shouldn't use brake as it slows the car down too much. If you need brake to get the car to turn you can address that with set up.

Edit, I was thinking brushless.

Thanks guys, that should help, makes sence too. On throttle I'm as fast or faster, but when I let off the throttle I noticed I was losing ground. I'll switch to the regular stock racing profile. Sounds like this should get me closer.

Morosis, what track are you racing at? the Barn, or something down by Rochester? Always looking for new tracks...
