I really do enjoy the smell tho, people have told me, that it starts to get to you later on in life, but i also like the smell of gasoline and car exhaust(not nitro) so who knows

METHYL SALICYLATE (WINTERGREEN OIL)

Where I work, we have to have a MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for every chemical brought into the plant, even window cleaner and salt for deicing the sidewalks. I looked up the MSDS for Wintergreen oil and it says that its not a carnicerin (SP) Its not going to kill you unless you're taking shots of it, using it for eye drops, or have the opening of the bottle up to your nose 24/7.

Wintergreen oil is commonly found in Listerine products (mouthwash, breath strips)

We have been over this time and again. It not the winter green in Paragon that kills you it the fumes from the lacquer thinner make up most of the volume of liquid in the can.

Whoa...Wintergreen wont kill you but everything else in the can will.

Here is the MSDS on Lacquer Thinner (Paragon is mostly Lacquer thinner)

ehh, sounds safe enough, who cares about "permanant brain and nerve damage"

thunderbt3 12-19-2005 12:47 PM

ah, i did not know most of paragon is made of laquer thinner

jasons56 12-19-2005 12:56 PM

I've developed a sensitivity to Paragon and most solvents in general. Doesn't take much and I've got a killer headache for hours. I recently switched to Jack the Gripper, it seems better for my head but I've yet to get it working like I the TQ I was using previously.

What do you guys think comprises the active ingredients in the other stuff? TQ is the only stuff that could possibly be considered safe, and it doesn't work and ruins carpet. JTG and Zip Free both contain SOLVENTS similar to those found in PARAGON, but you can't smell the others as easily so they must be safer right? Same stupid argument and untill somebody actually does the chemistry involved, rather than just posting MSDS info noone's proved that it's any more detrimental than the other stuff that doesn't even work.

LONG LIVE PARAGON!!!

Well, I see that there is another thread started up just for Nifteck. I am hopeful that our general voice of reason would nail down some definite answers for a direction to go in for "good 8 minute grip". Nifteck is something that I have never tried and it sounds worth the purchase. So you just apply it and let it dry? What about cleaning the tires after the run like I do with the TQ? Currently, I use a rag and motor spray to wipe the tires down. I do like Paragon. Sold it in my shop for years. Bathed in some. Even wore some to the bars to pick up chicks. But being there is a nation wide cut back on the stuff... we need to find other alternatives or go race touring cars!

I am convinced we can find the answers.

I was laying it on twice usually (more on older not recently sauced tires). it does evaporate off very well but I found for the best consistancy you need to wipe it off well also. You will need to use a little more on the front than you are used to.
