I didnt have to cut anything on the battery or car. I did however cut two small pieces of lexan to fix into the battery slots to similate a six cell pack and secure the pack on to the car. The Peak/Orion 4800 in flat on the bottom and thats why we did this mod. The battery can still be removed by pushing up on the bottom side when there is no tape on the car. When placing the lexan pieces on the bottom make sure everything is lined up on top of the side - meaning that the battery doesn't rub against the belt, the -/+ poles dont rub against the chassis, and the pinion doesnt hit the battery case. Then turn the car over and place the lexan peices with servo tape through the battery slot holes unto the pack. I didnt cut the lexan pieces perfect and actually left alittle play so I could get the pack out of the car with ease. I also used shrink wrap on the plugs so I dont have to worry about that bulkheads.
Yes I did use a different steering track rod - it's the one that is the same as the standard but middle in length and I moved it up one hole from the back to give it clearance.
All this info was given to me by a guy at our track that has ran lipos forever and got me to switch over for practice and club racing - so thanks to Andrew Doherty.
I hope this helps and I will try to answer anything else you might have about it or come up with some type of solution for ya.

Nexus--
I would say your rear end is a little soft--and/or the front is a little stiff.
Could be spring, damping, swaybar, shock angle or a combo therof.
Also, track width could be an issue (ie too wide front and/or too narrow rear)
Droop might be an issue, does it do it more/less throughout the run?
...Course, it could also be a c-link/and or roll-center issue...
Starting simple, though, could you just have too much front/too little rear bite?

A diff is OK in my opinion with carpet/rubber tires or really rubber tires in general. I prefer the spool on carpet and asphalt. It's always faster but a little harder to drive and setup the car.
Also running a spool or oneway can break more if you hit hard. If I want to play it safe I would use a diff. But when I want to really see how much I can get out of the car I run the spool.

Hey Goetz,
Didn't you post before your explainations of some setups...
Like explaining anti-dive, anti-squat, camber links, etc? I thought I read a post like that from you before in this thread but I couldn't find it.
p.s. Think Obey Schumacher :P

Your not going to get as much steering with a diff. I only run a diff with foam tires. On asphalt I like a spool and on carpet I run a one-way. One-ways were deffinately the ticket at the IIC.

interesting.
I will have to try it. Right now I like the spool and don't ever use brakes either. But some of my problems are on really tight turns and/or 180s which could be due to running a spool.
Thanks

Which top deck did you settle on?
Tyre Warmers?
Additive?
Can't think of anything else at the moment
