Anyone have a good starting gearing for the 528 stock software wil 17.5 for a kyosho 2wd buggy.

M-Technic 08-16-2010 06:00 AM

After our main this weekend I decided to test out a completely off the wall gear ratio (for me at least). I went up 8 (!) teeth, from about a 6.5 to a 5.2. Car was every bit as fast, with less fade, and was actually about 10* cooler!

Talk about a huge gearing window with this ESC.

Yes thats what Charlie found out a little while ago. On out door asphalt I run around a 5.3 to 5.7 for 13.5 and 4.8 FDR for 17.5 and its fast!

It was late so I wasn't able to do any more testing after going up 8 teeth, but I might go up another 1-2 to get towards your 4.8 range. I am running a Duo2, however.

yes with the duo 2 you might have to stay in the 5 range the sp13.5 I think has a little more torque than the duo . With the sp 13.5 my motor is in the 150 range out doors indoors is about 130 Or so.

Power decrease as temperature decreases?

Hi all,

I'm running a 3.5T v3 in my TC car, and it seems a bit slower (less rip) than it used to be. Recently I also installed a fan that pulls air out of the motor, instead of blowing onto it, the setup is made by Team Powers (aluminum version).

The motor usually comes off the track at about 155F, I think it used to come off closer to 170 or 175F.

Sorry, if this has been asked and answered, but I couldn't find anything in my initial search.

Thanks.
Ethan

Hi there we played with the TP fan shroud and had terrible problems with heat, with no actual way of securely mounting it we had one actually melt into a motor in use, obviously the motor was a write off after this so not too certain if they are actually up to the job or not. They are made from Lexan and would work well if moulded from Alloy to act as a combination Heatsink and fan holder.

Could you post a picture maybe of how you mounted it if you have not struggled the way we did with ours, because the idea is fantastic and we would love to see one working.

Cheers

We are running duo2 17.5 at 6.1 on a small technical track with about a 20m straight and they are uncatchable and about 165f. Tried gearing up to 5.5, no change in temperature, but slower lap time and not as much rip

Any body tried using the new boost softwares (528) with the x12 range of motors?

In particular the 13.5 x12?

They have also released a aluminum mounting piece for the fan as well.

Yea, I'm using the aluminum version, it works very well, mounting it with the equivalent of 3M double sided tape, like what's use to mount the LRP heat sink.

Any input from anyone on the heat versus performance issue? If the motor runs cooler, can that imply a loss in power?

what are your settings?

Joel Lagace 08-17-2010 07:29 AM

our club is talking about running a boost free 17.5 class( )

What is the best way for a SP or HW user running boost now to unboost there ESC? Can the boost settings be set to 1 or 0 or off? Or would a flash to a "MOD" software be more effective... IF both work which will leave the user with the best performance?
