Forward, brake, reverse function is only available in some of the available firmware's. being : Drift, Rock Crawler and Modify0 firmware.

You probably have to change the firmware first using the Software on a PC.

I also have used sensorless motors with the Speedpassion esc.
Found no way to get rid of the low speed cogging.

Use cheap Hobbywing clone now for my sensorless motors and it is almost gone. Also the break delay is gone, which is always present in speedpassion esc when used in combination with sensorless motors.

As far as i know ( Racer ) you can setup some other parameters in the Drift firmware. Other/"Better" throttle and brake curves that are useful for Drifters.

You should be able to update the Firmware using the PC Software and the included Smart LED Programmer Card via the included usb cable.
But with the correct gearing you can use it as it is.

So ... I have to download new firmware ( modify 0 ) from speed passion.net .... flash it into the program card .... and flash it again into ESC .... and then I can select reverse function. Is this what you are reffering .?

Yes and no !
Firmware is loaded directly into the ESC from the PC Software, which includes the latest versions of the available firmwares. Settings can be set directly from the PC Software. Settings for the firmware in the ESC can then be altered later via the PC Software or via the program box without the connection to the PC.

You should not connect the ESC to any LIPO when connecting it to the PC and never disconnect the ESC while updating the firmware.

Bought a cheap offroad once with the same problem.
Wondered why the car was slower with a modified brushed motor.
Due to timing on the endbell the Modified motor got real hot and could not run properly. Sold the car with a brushless sensorless combo.

A solution is, disconnect the sensor cable and switch the rotation direction by
switching for example the A and C wires on the motor. ( do not connect a sensor cable when the motor cables are switched because this could fry your ESC and motor )

Thanks for the info. I knew about the rotation of the diff's. I ASSUMED... that since my Hobbywing and Radient ESC's worked and had cw/ccw options that the SpeedPassion would also.

The diff bodies are not interchangeable. Sounds like I will have to use sensorless mode. I did that originally, but the tech at SP said it was the transmitter. SO, I hope we (you and me) are both wrong, though I am sure we are right.

Most sensored motors incl Speedpassion, already have mechanical timing on the endbell.
Using them in reverse direction with the sensor cable attached would create the same problem i had with my brushed motor "ages" ago.

I think the cw/ccw option is a nice feature for sensorless use but not ideal for sensored use, due to this mechanical timing on most sensored motors.

We were correct. More you than me. :) The final fix was to go sensorless and swap out two of the esc to motor cables. A little bummed, but knowledge acquired. Most importantly, I can finally run it! :)

can somebody help me pls! I have been trying to find the iphone reventon app but it looks like it has been taken down from the app store! also i've been trying to get the pc update software to work but sofar its been an absolute nightmare. I think the esc is superb but to ship it without reverse is such a bad idea.

does anybody know where to find the iphone app???

yes and when you click on the app on the sp website it goes to iTunes and then says its been deleted from the app store....

well the mystery is solved. it is not available for iOS 7 or windows 8. ...... great hurry up and update the support pls!
