I got my setup dialed in a bit last night. Adding a half tick of timing to my Duo2 17.5 and dropping a tooth really helped. I'm geared at a 6.30 and I might try dropping one more tooth. Temps were about 170 after 7 minutes which might be a little bit too hot considering it was cool night and our races start in the afternoon.

Hi,
what's best instructions out there explaining all the settings and correct gearing for these speedo's and motors ? I've found a pdf 'Basic Starting Setups for Supercharger Software' is it best to use this ? The SP motor instructions say use X gearing then another SP manual will give you a different recommended gearing ? I'll admit that I'm really confused on getting the correct settings and what excatly they all do. I'm at the track testing and I'm up and down on gearing and changing this and that in the speedo but I don't really seem to get anywhere or notice much change in speed or temps, I'm just going round in circles  Do people just set there speedo's with some average settings then get the correct gearing and then adjust the speedo settings or what ? what's the correct way to get the gearing right and the speedo set up right. Thanks :( |

Thanks :( mostly they first follow "suggested settings" by motor for best temps with endbell 0 to 5 degree, for 2S or 6cell. "Suggested settings" is available at the bottom page on GT2.1 4232010 Instructions. http://www.rctech.net/forum/attachme...il23th2010.doc for 422 ESC Software. |

drop the timing on the motor and go up a tooth :) maybe go up 1 or 2 values on #15 that should bring the heat down. (timing on the motor will just add more heat to it)
I think I am on #3 or #4 for setting 15. I will try going down 1 or 2 more on that setting. |

I done alot of testing with my Sp and I have now a basic setting that I use every time, the only thing I change on it is step#15 and gearing everything else I leave the same. Usually i only have to change gearing maybe 1 or 2 teeth up or down depending on track layout and step #15 i use if the motor temps are too high but most of the time I leave #15 at either 2 or 3. My temps outdoors in the Florida summer heat are 150 degrees on the motor geared at a 4.8 fdr with a 17.5 and 5.7 fdr with a 13.5

Files have been removed. Sorry for any confusion they may have caused.

I'm running the sp 13.5 don't know if that matters that much.

That would reverse the changes I made that made the car better. You say drop timing and go up a tooth, but the car was better with more timing and down a tooth  It was actually about 5-10* cooler that way too.

Are those settings the same as you posted to me a few pages back ? So you use these on 13.5 and 17.5 ?

May I ask why you use 5.7 for 13.5 when all the files/documents are recommending around 6.25 - 7.00 ? please don't think I'm saying your setting is wrong but this is where I am getting confused with gearing it correctly and why I asked earlier if there was a suggested setting. The manual with the motor recommends 4.8 -6.0 the SP Basic Supercharger setting PDF say's 6.25-7.0 and then the Word doc say's 6.5-7.0 I never know which to start with  I presume you've tried loads of different fdr's ? Thanks. |

The manual with the motor recommends 4.8 -6.0 the such as "MOD Firmware" or "No Timing Firmware". SP Basic Supercharger setting PDF say's 6.25-7.0 and then the Word doc say's 6.5-7.0 I never know which to start with  I presume you've tried loads of different fdr's ? Thanks. as for a while Safety reason Motor recomendation Settings is always for "Mod Firmware" and "No Timing only Firmware" (past technology). Hope this will help you S.A.W to understand the source of Documentation From Speed Passion. |
