don't over tighten set screws. They strip out of the plastic easily. Where possible, replace set screws with button head screws. They hold up a lot better.

EJ Evans

Tried your recommended set-up for my foam chassis and med/low roll centers. Did not have the 1.4 sway bar in the rear. The track temp started about 75 then got got down to 65 f. At the end of the day, I have worn a groove on the inside of my tires. I am running the sweep qts-32's. A couple people said I have burnt them up and my set-up is possibly to stiff for the cooler weather. What changes need to be made? Soften the car up? Being new to outdoor aspahlt racing, any help would be greatly appreciated. The track was also treated with sugar water.

Thanks

Everyone please feel free to offer any suggestions.

Big thanks to Q for solving a diff problem I was having. The diff was very tight and still slipping. The kit came with 9 thrust balls but only 8 are required. ONLY USE 8. Removed 1 and the diff is golden now. Big props.

Can someone tell the difference between these two bones:

PO-SDT008 Universal Bone V2
PO-SDT020 Universal Shaft Set V3

Which do you use for the spool?

And on the diff end, you use the 44.5mm bone, if you are using more then 4 cone washers. Correct?

I just picked up one of the new kits. I was wondering if it's supposed to come with steel front swing shafts?'

Regards
Jerry

The kits come with 46mm aluminum drive shafts for the front and 44.5mm aluminum drive shafts for the rear.

They are the same driveshafts and work well with the spool. The 44.5mm bones are used in the rear of the car to limit the plunge and avoid breaking the blades.

I have run or should I say I tried to run the aluminum ones with a spool. They do no hold up to the abuse the spool gives. After run number 4 one snapped off. Of course it happened in the main. I was able to drive the rest of the race but the car was not handling very well.

Thanks, Stiltskin, it does get confusing (especially for me) when you order spares and you see ver. 2 & 3.

ok im going to ask a stupid generic question, but how does this car compare to say an xray?

I had an xray 009 and found it very very good and needed nothing in the 6months of owning it. It steered excellent, yet had heaps of traction at the same time.

is the photon a reliable car? does it need any aftermarket parts?
