Nope. I have the gear diff in the rear and the ball diff in the front. To get good rear grip you need to run the rear diff loose and in order to get the ball diff like that it's very close to slipping. Once it slips it starts to get crunchy feeling real quick. I use light coat of grease on the inside gears and a shorten spring. Clipped the spring so it just holds the 2 inside gears apart but no pressure on them like the stock setup. Only problem is the metal outdrives notch pretty fast. Pretty much on par for HPI's soft drive cups.
In the front I have the ball diff medium tightness.

I was wondering if we should have any durability issues with such mild setups which will only be geared for 18-20mph. I have read several posts about the drive cups, but it would be nice if we could run these stock.
I have not broken the drive cups at the wheels but I have broken the shock shafts twice. The orange rear hinge pin plate at the front end gets bent if you hit the front wheel so you should double it up.
The plastic center front drive cup can break the 3 interlocking fingers. Get the Exotek hard coated Aluminum one.

Btw I'm running 17.5t boosted so I think your choice of motor/esc should be fine.

Am having an issue with the tail being really twitchy and wanting to spin out when running into corners. Not real sure what to do, have tried different springs, different shock positions etc
has anyone else had this issue?
Are you loose going into or accelerating out of the turn?

tends to want to spin when turning in, so have tried to adapt by letting it roll though, but then when getting on throttle it also tends to loose the rear end. Its a bit perplexing, havent had anything like it before.
forgot to add am running the abc tyres and rims, sway bars etc

Try these:

  • More rear toe (3 degrees)
  • Stiffer front springs (pink)
  • Thicker front shock oil (70wt)
  • Softer rear springs
  • Thinner rear shock oil
  • Use outer most hole on optional front shock tower
  • Lay rear shocks down a hole
  • Lower rear rollcenter (upper hole for camber link in rear shock tower)
  • Raise front rollcenter (remover plate under front upper arm pin holder)
  • Looser rear diff
  • Tighter front diff
  • Remover the rear swaybar
  • If you sauce the tires do full for the back and inner 1/4 to 1/2 for the front
  • Use some front toe out
  • Use front anti-dive

Check droop.. If your front has a droop of 2, rear should have 1.

Also does it spin turning left and right?

Yes, it is consistant in its ability to spin.
changed shock oil, removed bay, moved shock position, raised rear roll centre, loosened rear diff and removed swaybar.
Heading out to give it a run and continue the tweaking

I run / race mine with stock diffs and it works just fine. I race using a ballistic 21.5.

I just got one from a friend of mine, runs great, but one problem. The front left tire will lock itself back when you turn it hard left. It will get stuck. I have to go to the car and turn the tire by hand than it is fine. Kinda hard to explain lol... Any ideas. It's almost like it has to much travel
