Im interested in this car a lot. Bit of annoyance in the UK being that they have stopped the Datsun kits. I like them both.
Anyway i would like to know if this car can handle more than 20-30t motors as i need to keep up with a mo3 mini with a super stock rz motor in it. (it is unreal how fast it is). it is equal to probably a good 11t. i just want to match it not beat. any helps?

I use a sc-15 ESC so it handles 15t motor and more. I use a X30re motor and I'll try a 20t hpi motor. I donīt think that anything under 15t is a good idea. Donīt forget that the CR is 4wd versus m03 fwd.

Default new shoes

I want to share some pics of my CR on new shoes. These are bigger than the originals but they give the 17" wheels look. The tires are drift spec.

Unhappy

First of all a big salute to this wonderful forum. Here is a new fan of cup racer, I just finished assembling and I have made the first tests. The car is great except the damn piece of the front differential (85281-10), which I broke the first run. Come on HPI make a mistake is human, but why you have not done it in steel yet?. Nor anyone like gpm, hot racing, tais etc? Someone knows something? in any case thanks for the great thread.

bye

Welcome David-M. Did you crash your car or was something about ring and pinion? I have crashed my CR at full throttle and nothing happened.
Show some pics of your car!! Let's keep this topic alive!!

Thanks conejo. No major incident, small shocks, normal for a car rc. Is the usual problem of the broken plastic teeth in contact with gear... The car is disassembled now. I have done an emergency repairs including in the piece of plastic 3 small pieces of iron (making them hot and incorporated), the result is not the best but it should work. I'll try in the coming days and hope that it works until someone makes the hop-up (or I have to put the car in the box).

show us the results, īcause it could happen to anybody. And maybe this coud be the beginning to get hopus. I canīt dial the camber in the right front tire because the uper ball joint is kind of stripped in the threads so I ordered some aluminum arms and steering bulks at RC Mall they are inexpensive and offer free shipping, they sent it very fast and donīt forget I live in El Salvador.

My solution is similar to Mike's one (rctech.net/forum/electric-road/273021-new-hpi-cup-racer-37.html#post5856926), but Mike's one is done better than mine, with the right tools. Mine is a solution for people like me who has no tools (hoping still works). My intention was to take several hop-ups, but until someone will make this metal replacement I will not buy anything (is stupid to have a hoppedup car but broken)
I hope someone here has news on the metal part...
Thank you guys...

I'm running a 17.5t brushless. The car handles it fine.

I'm running a 4600kv (not sure what that is maybe 15t) and on stock pinion and 2cell lipo it is quite mild but on 3 cells it rocks like insane.I don't race but I like parking lot speed runs and it is an adrenaline rush

Me niether. i dont like the pressure. i love the speed of cars and how fast you can get them. I am actually thinking abut the HPI 5700 flux brushless system on 2 or 3 cell lipo.

Hehe I'would go running on the track: D
So guys no one has news on the piece done in metal (85281-10)? No release soon?
What do you think is the best solution after all?
If I buy the rear one (that is done in metal) what changes should I make exactly to the front differential? is easy?
is better to use parts from another car?

thanks in advance

I broke the same part while building the car. Seems like the quality is like poop. I hope someone will make a hop-up for it. I will definitely order two.
