The TA03F have been considered the AE86 of the RCdrift world, Easy to set up for drifting, Japanese make/brand, and a model produced

from long ago resulting parts are not so easy to find. Engine placement is same as AE86 (under the hood)

Tamiya has now introduced the

XV-01 pro , Lay-out is similar to TA03F front motor 4wd, beltdrive to transfer power to rear. Plastic Materials may be even be

better, not as brittle. This seems a modern day TA03F Does anyone think this can replace/substitute a TA03F? Will the XV-01 be

like/considered a newly released TA03F with parts availablility and improved plastic materials & built quality?

Since Toyota GT86 is

considered a new generation AE86 in the 1:1 Automotive world, Can we look at the new XV-01 be viewed as a Toyota GT86 of the RC

world? ;-) 1:1 (both are from same Japanese maker -Toyota -) 1:10 (both are from same Japanese maker -Tamiya)

Can the XV-01 propell to this status as did the TA03F in the RCdrift world ?

What do you think Guys? ;-)

Default M03/05 Spool for TA03?

4 years ago we ripped open an old TA03F Pro to use the ball diffs in our mini's since they're a direct fit. (Had I known the significance of this car back then i wouldn't have!)

So 4 years later I have a nice new TA03F Pro DSpec and yeah I can lock the ball diff but I could do without the unwanted rotational mass. Does the 3Racing M03/05 spool directly fit the TA03?

Thanks in advance!

Dan you will always be NitroBoy to me Man the old HPI forums were the isht. None of this "there's already a thread on that" or "use the search function" crap. Just R/Cers sharing the passion and helping each other out. Sometimes the RC Tech forums are straight up hostile.

Anyways, what do you plan on doing with it? I have to be honest, I only ordered my 03 because I wasn't sober when I did it and it's costing me alot more building it up than getting the Sakura D3 I was supposed to. I think I already spent more on this car than I have on my VDF!
Good thing I'm a Tamiyahead!

You race @ Norcal?

As you will always be Super Seiyan to me. Hahaha. Can't believe its been almost 15 years since HPI forums first started.

I've taken a break from offroad a little bit and been doing a lot of onroad racing lately at Norcal. Mostly with the F104. W Fok is back into racing too.

Getting my TA03 running again just to mess around on Norcal practice days. Had it running last year at Allspeed but the track has changed to full on drift track. I've been buying hopups for my 03 too, not sure why.

LOL

Crap, I had a shot @ getting a NIB 3Racing FGX for $9 on eBay but my ass forgot about it. Can't believe no one bid on it! Still the car would be cheap but I'd still dump how much more into getting it running then racing it. God I wonder how I afforded it before. I already have an M05 and I think about racing it @ Norcal but I'm trying to convince my buddy to come with me with his M03.

Let's drift your 03 @ Sheldon's! Where's Allspeed?

Bring it out to Norcal! There is a big event going on this weekend but I'm going to be there next Saturday for open practice.

The next onroad race after that won't be for a while though. I had an M05 before, but too bad I sold it a few months ago. There are a few guys who run FWD minis at Norcal. The Tamiya minis have disadvantage with gearing and being 2WD still though.

Allspeed is in South SF, near Tanforan mall.

I can't afford to do any racing atm. I wonder how I was able to race 200mm nitro a while back! Bad enough I spend way too much on cars that do fancy circles

What kind of TA03 you have Dan?

Dont do it. For the price of ta03f drift spec, you can get a more modern chassis.
