Steel outdrives for tamiya spool
You will need two sets of steel diff outdrives from a Tamiya TA04. I'm sure a lot of other people will have these in there pit boxes after replacing them with lightweight outdrives. You will only actually use the long side of the outdrive.
1. Cut off the end that goes to the diff right at the ridge that holds the bearing, see pic.
2. Grind it flat with the ridge
3. insert pins into the slot for the dogbone
4. put bearings on to hold in the pin
5. install as normal
I ran out of drive cups and didn't really want to buy a new spool so I dug around my box and tried every outdrive I could find and the inner diameter of these, the length, everything is a perfect fit. There will be a slight bit of play with the pin and the dog bone slot but it isn't a big deal. I havn't had a chance to try this yet but I don't see any reason why they won't hold up, but before anybody goes out and buys outdrives to do this I'll be trying it out and I'll report back.

Also, I would add flipping the front block to your list. I have told a few people about this and they had no idea it could be done.
