And as we all know, inventiveness = $$$. Someone will want to be at the top of the pack and will spend more to create a more competitive car.
I just get miffed when I see these suggestions on all different threads about how someone needs to create a low cost budget class that will suddenly open the flood gates for new and old racers when what most mean is they want a class that is cheap, do little to no work on the set-up but still be in the top three.
Racing is a competition and some of us will work harder to be better. I had a good run at IIC this year and finished fourth in the F1 class. Rather than whine about being a privateer running against the factory drivers in the class, I look at it as a challenge to make myself better and have made friends with some who have in turn given me helpful suggestions that have helped me go faster. When back at my local track, I am more than happy to help other F1 racers with set-ups because if we can help others at our local tracks get better and enjoy racing in the class, the class will stay around longer. My running joke is I will be happy to help them until they get to within 0.3 secs of my lap time, then they are on their own !

I did not have enough to get up there with you and Jan. You are a solidly competitive driver ! The Roche is a new chassis to me this year and very happy with it. TCS season is over so time to start doing some real practice and testing to get her faster. Hope to see you at 5280 in April for the Mile High Nats. Panda

My son was bugging me non stop to get the f103rx going. Been sitting about 15 plus years. I raced it at the Tamiya races At s and n raceway in Wisconsin back then. Good times thanks again Scotty. I put electronics I had laying around to get going. He is digging it. None of my shorty lipos fit. I have small 1500 3s turned down to 40 percent. What lipos fit in these cars? I used round bat. The new lipos hit the pods. Thanks

with 1mm spacers under the top deck , standard shorty will fit too

Our club is fortunate enough to start using some CRC Black carpet. Any premount tire suggestions?

You will want to go with the CRC premiums. You will need to glue the front sidewalls to avoid traction rolling. We only use the Gravity wheels for the Midwest series we have, they are good but take time to figure out. CRC are faster.

I think you're on to something. at least sorta. We do need some cheap classes to run. "going fast for cheap" is definitely the world of direct drive. But ti's hard to beat things like the TT01e with the semi truck body. Takes longer to build, but it comes with an ESC, and motor. All you need is a radio battery and charger to get going.
(It won't last, but there's a $99 F104 on tamiya right now...)
But getting people into racing, is another story. EG: at my local track, there's a class that's "run what you brung" but.. it's not advertised. They say there's racing, but it's rarely said "when" or "how long you should expect to be there".

Adding more classes won’t bring in new people. On road needs a reputation change to the “ basher “ market. Most see road cars as limited, fragile and, well, boring. They say that the F1 looks great. But then usually say “ I’d have no place to use it”. My F1 is the only car I’ve owned that I can’t just take out and use on a empty parking lot. I’ve got no problem running my USGT car, or any of my touring cars. But my F1, its limited.

Yes, it can be figured out. But you need to know that's there, and how to read it, and how to handle it.
..... This is ~not~ how it is for doing your first triatalon, bicycle race, or even drag racing. It's "hard" to get in.
As for bashers/onroad. TT01e's are good. *grins*

Hi there,
which body is currently the most used/the prefered one amongst Bittydesign, Montech, PF, JConcept,...? Wich model specifically?
Also, what is the difference on track between a Bitty Type-6C and the Type-6R?

Also, how do you know which front wing goes with which body?

The wings are mix and match and you can mount the body to match the front wing position. In the case of the Associated F6 and Montech 17 front wings, they are 10mm longer than traditional F104 based front wings and allow you to mount the body a little further forward without hanging them over the leading edge of the wing.
