I would imagine the rear wing makes some impact.
Way back in the 90s I tried it, the low nose bodies of the time made it look much like a Formula Ford. When it was handling well, without the rear wing sticking up there was a noticeable increase in straight line speed. The problem was that if the chassis setup wasn't quite right it was tricky to drive. Bolting the wings back on stabilised it again instantly.

I never tried experimenting to see whether the big difference was down to the aero or whether it was down to the weight hanging off either end of the chassis helping to stabilise it. I gave up in the end just because I got tired of having make sure the chassis was spot on every time

Looking for opinions here
Going to get an f1 right now my choices are down to the 3racing fgx or the speed passion sp1
The fgx looks cool is reasonably priced and comes with the front and rear wing.
The sp1 seems to be the go to hot car right now but comes with nothing.
I can't seem to locate the info on what wings are a direct fit for it
And would appreciate any one who has driven boths opinion. Does the fgx s independent rear an advantage?
I will be on A outdoor pavement track with 21.5 motor and rubber tires

Thanks! Its the Tamiya F60 shell. Yes, they are Brads' decals. I only wish he used higher quality decal sheet and more ink. The red/white got washed out easily when placed over dark colors.

We actually use the pace car for our RCFIA series races up here in northern California on the formation lap. Has working lightbar and headlights.

THe SP-1 takes all Tamiya compatible wings.

Wings are available separately but mostly they come with the body set. Tamiya body sets for the F104 and F104v2 will fit the SP-1 and they come with the wings. The SP body will also fit but I'm not sure if that comes with wings or not.

The SPEED PASSION F-68 body doesn't come with wings but will fit most cars on the market. RC MART has them 2 for $43 .
I use them on the SERPENT F110 great fit, It was made for the F104 (MOST ARE) and will fit most, It doesn't work well with FGX EXOTEK

In general all rear wings fit F1 cars, TAMIYA all versions (in the set or singlely),
TRG Standard (THE STANDRD WING IS MORE LESS THE SAME FOR SERPENT AND THE F113) Advanced,
3 RACING FGX (TO FIT THE SERPENT NOT SURE ON OTHER BRANDS, A EXTRA 3MM SPACER REQUIRED TO CLEAR REAR WING POD BRACE)
3 RACINGF113 ,
ZEN 3D

Front Lexan wings,
F113
3 RACING FGX front wing wont work on bumper style front wings as when fitted they lean backwards a touch, and does hinder the performance of the car (as i found out today on the SERPENT).

SERPENT F110 (two wings in set low and high downforce provided),
are all good but lack the real look they actually are designed to create downforce, they are prone to damage in big hits.
PLASTIC FRONT WINGS
ALL TAMIYA Tamyia make countless version of wings
ZEN Front wing

just to name some of the most common

I was in the same boat as you - Unsure what the hell to buy! I eventually ordered a TRF101. This thread seems to have lots of good opinions and info from people who have actually driven the cars. Hope it helps!
