The guys are right, you can over rev ANY motor and cause too much heat.
With spec motors you really need to gear for all the available torque and then use timing to make up for other sections on the track.
Capt'n is right about the buddy and temping every minute or so. THat is truly ideal if you have support at the track.
Your esc setup is good but I agree, bring your gearing up into the 5.0ish fdr range and work up/down from there. I'd expect gearing up rather than gearing down. Temp is key here. I feel as the others do that you're on the undergeared side of the range.

If you had v200 and didnt have the info or understand it, you could damage your motor or worse your esc.
V200 is officially released though but through email request to Randy.

Well, now I have it installed in my speedy. What should I be looking out for?
I have the same setting as before
no drag brakes
full brake power
no reverse
throttle profile 3
brushless (sensored mode, of course)
3V cutoff
10 timing boost (12 on motor)
plus
Turbo at 10 and .5s delay.

Here are the directions I got in my email. I am sure it is the same for everyone else.
The main thing to remember is to not set combined timing(motor+boost+turbo) too high and not to set your delay too low. I think the magic number was 45*. You don't want more timing than that. And as far as delay, you only want it to kick in on the strait where you car has very little load. If that turbo kicks in and your car is under load, it can create a lot of heat.

this has a turbo function. Let's go over this new feature:
The turbo is desinged to add straight away speed. It's very
important that it comes on only in the high speed sections
as to not over time the motor in the heavy load/slow speed
sections. Ideally it should come "on" right at the point on
the straight away at the point prior to the car beginning to
stop accelerating hard. In other words right where 2nd gear
would be nice!
I reccomend setting up gearing and non turbo timing for the
infield sections THEN turning on the turbo feature.
Setting your overall timig is also critical. Too much timing
is going to ruin motors. In general you can take your
current 198 setup, drop 10 degrees off of your timing boost
setting, and add full turbo with the proper delay. This will
get you in the ball park.
You WILL need to drop gearing again. Most guys have gone
from FDR's in the 5.0 range to 5.7 in 13.5 TC. So don't be
scared to drop more gear than you might think. When in
doubt, lower is a better gamble.
Please start out slow and work your way up.
This file MUST have the file extension changed from .txt to
.zip prior to use.

Unless you are on a huge track with a huge strait, I'm finding what you set your turbo does not matter because of the time it takes to hit full turbo. Here is what I think is going on. Try it for yourself. I am going to the track tomorrow to test it out some more.

That is .5sec of delay(if you set your delay to minimum) and 1 sec to hit full timing with no load, maybe more on the track. So lets say it takes .1 sec to get 2* degrees of timing. If your only full throttle for 1sec, you're only going to get 10* of boost. Make sense?

Hi, I just got a RS (which should arrive tomorrow) I've been doing some reading, for the most part I seem to understand it. But I really just want to know what some of the features do because I've 'boost' 'turbo' and 'timing advance' being mentioned as being different terms.
All I want to do is use a 'turbo' to how the LRP SPX is like, I don't want to change the timing on my motor (currently a LRP 17.5) I already know to change my gearing (going from 3.5 to 4.5) so its not that big of problem. I'll be using the v200 software.
And for some stupid reason I can't join the tekin forum because of spam not being welcome there.
