I have a similar problem on my laptop.
My one when i open the hotwire software takes a minute or but longer to see the hotwire connected and then another minute or two before it opens the interface.
When i connect i carry on doing other things and come back to it when its open.
Maybe thats what you need to do.
Open the software with the hotwire and rs connected and just wait a few minutes.

Razzer,

So when you click on the software icon, does the interface "open" then say its not seeing it, then does it close and then come back?

When my interface doesn't recognize it, it waits for a couple seconds, then closes the interface and doesn't seem to come back at all. I'll try it though, thanks for the suggestion.

it seems to have a mind of its own.
It shows the small window saying it cant connect and then i unplug the usb plug and start again and it opens after a few minutes.
Actually does the same on my laptop and my desktop with both running XP Pro.My laptop is using software from tekin site and my desktop is using the software Randy emailed me.

Have you tried doing a factory default reset on your ESC ? Then re-load your current version of software onto the ESC . I'm sure you're aware but just in case you aren't, you will have to redo the ESC/Radio setup too.
thanks for your help. my motor seems to be working normal now.

If you are getting beaten by SPX you haven't got your Tekin set up well

Talking about a track with 250ft backstraight and 350ft full throttle. SPX rules on big tracks for now (talking from experience). I have driven with SPX (borrowed from a friend) and was faster in top speed and lap time. So if you have driven on these big tracks and still think my RS is not configured properly I will stand corrected and please tell me your secrets.

I now fore sure he will never beat the SPX on that track with any setup on his Tekin.
The straight is longer than most of the tracks.

I hope it will come soon because i have a race coming on a track that's to long for the current software. Don't have the same top speed as the GM and the SPX.

Just for comparison, two runs first with RS PRO, second one with SPX.

Next one is with SPX:

Tekin with standart timing so 12 and not more goes already faster.
I think that when you use timing on the motor that you go over the 80km/h

There motor is good just like there speedo. now the turbo and you have the fastest combination in your hands when you use the redline motor and tekin speedo.
I see that the difference is smaller than i expected.

I had the same problem. The connection between the hotwire and the usb is not going in the whole way. You have to squesse them together. Somethimes you have to hold them together for the duration of when you are using it. Hope this helps.
