When I posted that I had not seen the new labels for the settings in 208. I was going by 203
The way I understand it, "Timing Advance" is now a percentage of 30 degrees timing that only gets used in dual mode, like if your sensor wire pops out mid race. It would apply that 30 degrees (if set to 100) spread over the default RPM range around 5K-20K
What I referred to as timing advance (from what it was called in 203) is now called "Boost" and "Turbo Boost" is now just "Turbo"

I'm getting old. Perhaps my memory is failing me. Oh well. Is my understanding of what the settings do correct?

Setup 208 today with my 203 settings. I used to be able to feather the throttle through the sweeper without any significant loss of power. Now when I feather the throttle, the car checks-up on me. I removed drag brake and tried different turbo delays with the same results.

Hey Sean. I'm trying to stay on full throttle. Never "off" throttle, just letting up a little to maintain my line. Never had this issue with 203.

I find myself running less drag brake in 208 to achieve the same feel I had with 203.

I didnt get to run my car much today with 208 (i was there for 6 hours and got 4 packs in). The brakes seem much better though (consistent, not necessarily stronger). I had the same loss of boost as before (after 3 or so laps) if i tried to set my transmitter up with 100%+ T/B EPA. So i went back to the previous setup and it worked fine.
Track temp was above 140 degrees today... i ran that x12 well into the 200 degree mark with no fade, and the RS was at the first LED for temp. Throttle response felt better with a start RPM in the 3k region. 5k felt better on 203, both with the same end RPM and timing settings. Car had plenty of rip! ("Is that mod?" )
Were you runnin the x12 today Tony? If so, you might need to go to the -5 timing insert instead of the -10 for our track.

presuming we run the same settings as v203..
with the improvements in v208 should we see similar, hotter or cooler motor temps?
curious as i wont be able to hit the track for a few days!

Which brings me to my question for the Tekin peeps. What if you don't want a smother throttle? I like punchy.

Well it's not a drag brake deal then. I haven't run 208 yet but they say it has a smoother throttle response, which to me means less throttle for a given amount of trigger. So to get that back, you might need to bump up the throttle profile or just adjust your driving.

Nice info there flatspunout. I think I know what's going on here but until I get a chance to try it myself, I don't think I'm qualified to comment. It will be a while before 1/12th season starts up again.
Same issue here...anything less than full throttle and the car is a slug. Back off the trigger just enough to disengage the turbo and the car checks up noticeably. This is with 0 drag brake. This can be noticed on the bench as well...with 203 the timing boost kicks in just after LED 4 lights up (5k-18k RPM range), with 208 it is LED 6, almost to full throttle and just before the turbo activates. I tried re-flashing to 203 then back to 208, same results. This is with 17.5 Duo 2, no motor timing, TC rubber on carpet, 7.2 FDR, same settings as 203.
The RPM range has NEVER had an affect on turbo. If your theory was true flashing back to 203 would have fixed it.
Also DO NOT use a 203 equipped computer/hotwire to make adjustments to an esc equipped with 208. It can cause erratic operation.
