Guys I have been running the shit out of my car and loving it. The tires suck and get no traction (jaco tires), but it's still fun.

I have the mamba max pro in it with a 5700kv motor. The gearing is 110spur and 38 pinion. My esc was 135 temp, the motor was 190. I know I need to change up the gearing. Any suggestions? I don't race, just fly around the parking lot doing my own thing. Also looking for a little more top end.
Robert

if you are just bashing just put the biggest motor you could find.

I think he's talking about the fake disc brakes they put on the drifter cars for dress-up.

wyattroa 07-14-2010 09:38 AM

Hey guys another question. My car when it gets up to top speed tends to want to pull right and the faster I go the harder it pulls. Any ideas?

Jochim_18 07-14-2010 09:53 AM

Check your front toe... You might wanna put 1 degree of toe in to stablelized the car on high speed and also check your steering trim..

Guys,

Any special tip to mount a Brushless Motor on JS (plastic) version of E4 ?

Im helping out a friend who bought a JS kit and is trying to put a 13.5 brushless motor (tekin and novak) and says that its IMPOSSIBLE to do it, that its no way to move the motor to put different pinions.

thanks,

Pat

The Novak will fit whether it is the SS or the Ballistic. If its the Ballistic he should have no problems at all. However the Tekin or similar like the Trinity with the sharp corner endbell will not fit.

Since the JS is plastic, he can also cut some material off the left side bulkhead to give more clearance for the motor.

BTW, I've had 13.5 and 17.5 Novaks in my JS and there has never been a problem with gearing for either. Perhaps your friend need to consider different spurs as well.

I had problems with my steering wandering on the straight when going top speed. Check your droop. If you have too much droop on the front end, as your car speeds up the weight transfer will result in the rear end steering the car.

Original E4 and LIPO

Hi All,
Firstly apologies if this has been covered, I had a good look through the thread but there is lots of stuff in here ;-)

I've just become the proud owner of an E4, but it's not the FS or the RS and I run LIPO's, so my question is, is there a kit or a parts list that I can use to convert the E4 to have the additional space to run my LIPO packs??

Thanks in advance
Richard

Sig

oops just noticed I need to adjust my sig, as I now own an E4 as well as the E4JR, sorry if that confused anyone

Pro10noob 07-24-2010 01:21 AM

There are more then one option to get enough space for lipo's in your E4.
You can run Zippy flightmax 4000mah hardcase lipos.
You won't have to do anything about space just to dremel a bit of the front of your side belt tensioner and dremel the middle axle holder on the top part.
If your using 5000mah hardcase lipo's you can space out your topdeck for about 2 mm to get clearance for those lipos or you can buy the K-Factory K2127 lipo conversionkit and there is everything in it to get enough space for lipo's.
http://www.kfactoryracing.com/produc...2127&pageNum=1
Hope this helps you in your choice.

regards Roy

Get a hold of rick "Yodog" on this forum he got a bad A$$ battery tray that he is selling for Team Magic E4. You will not need any spacer to fits those 5000mah ++++ battery packs and this way you can keep the car at the lowest CG as possible.....

I too had a under power steer and it was because I had different spacing under the turnbuckle

HopeyOne 07-24-2010 04:12 PM

Thanks

Thanks Guys, I'll PM YoDog and have a look at the KFactory kit.

Jochim_18 07-25-2010 01:04 PM

Use 2mm spacer all the way around to lower your roll center... Car will be really stable on the apex with tons of steering...

hi

i have read that for the xray t3 and tamiya there will be a new rear gear diff.

something like this:

http://store.hkshobby.com/product_th...pg&w=533&h=400

do you know if this will be anytime for the TM also available?

Jochim_18 07-26-2010 06:21 PM

none of that gear diff will fit the TM E4 they need to build a gear diff where the pulley is right on the center.

Dave Ehrlich Limited Edition E4RS

Does anyone know how old this kit is?

About late 2008 up until 2009. The Dave Ehrlich Edition is the most top notch version of the E4 there is. Some of the options on the DE edition may no longer be available. If you're interested in the E4 and have an opportunity to pick up a DE edition for a good price, BUY IT!:D

Anyone have an idea on my problem. When I accelerate at full speed there is no sound and it smooth. When ever I start braking from a high speed their seems to be a chattering or grinding noise. I have looked over the car but can't figure it out. When I lift the car up in the air and accelerate to a high speed and then brake, it does not make the noise. Only when there is a load on the car and its on the ground.

Could be belt slip, or could be the spool.

iPearl 07-31-2010 11:53 PM

Could be belt slip, or could be the spool or the Pulleys slpping form the shaft.

Its comon for this car. Dial ur brakes out a little or use drag brakes.

You can look at it as a protection to not destroy ur entrire drive train by these parts slipping, in races you dont do full stop race anyway.

And its not healthy to do dead stop liek this anyway for an RC car regardless on shaft or belt.

Pro10noob 08-01-2010 12:16 AM

Yup that is the sound of a belt skipping teeth.
Check your belts and belt poulies if they are worn or if there is dirt between the teeth.
Also check the tension of the belts.
What has been said before trim the break a bit down.
That will help.
Most of the time it is the side belt that is causing the noise.

cheers Roy

Yes, I have one coming next week. I was wondering if it was still a viable option for racing. It appears as if it is. That is good to hear.

So you can buy a E4 like this?

cheers Roy

Here is a picture of the car I hope to get this week. I guess it comes with all the available Wolf Hobbies options on it. Lets hope the deal goes through.

YR4Dude 08-01-2010 10:58 AM

I can tell you really that the bumper on the DE edition is no longer available.

I tried to buy it last month from Wolf and the item had cancelled from my order because according to Wolf there is no definite ETA on it being available back in stock. Hence no back order.

The red alum. upper bulkheads are either available in limited quantities by request or are no longer available any more. Either way, their pricey at $55/ea.

Not to worry because those parts were basically bullet proof. You will never have to replace them. It just sucks for guys like me trying to mod our existing E4s to get that durability.

phisher 08-01-2010 11:44 AM

I wonder if one could be cut out of a blank or a similar bumper modified to fit? The gentleman I am getting this from is a professional driver and only ran the car once so, I think there is plenty of life still on the original one.

phisher 08-02-2010 02:43 PM

Yesterday I ordered a bumper and stickers for a E4. I have yet to receive an email stating that these items where out of stock. I don't know, maybe I'm doing it wrong but, they appear to be in stock and ready to ship.

You ordered the stock E4 bumper. The DE upper bumper has been out. Although the website still shows it being available. I don't know why because I couldn't even leave it as a back order.

Wolf Hobbies 08-03-2010 01:26 PM

A little clarification on our policies. Since most orders are shipped within 24 hours or receipt (Friday afternoon through Sunday excepted) we do not send out a verification of the order as a verification of shipment does go out at the moment of shipment so it would be redundant.

Also it would be better to check with us on the availability of parts than on a board. We have never been out of the bumper in the entire time that the E4 has been available. The Wolf Hobbies upper bumper kit is out of stock at this time but it should be available soon. We have a new carbon fiber vendor and they should be able to put the countersink on the correct side.

There are still a few of the Special Edition burgundy upper bulkheads available. Please contact us directly with special requests and we will always do everything possible to help out

Thank you

Wolf

Wolf Hobbies is a wonderful place to get Team Magic parts. You can also get your questions answered fast. Thanks Wolf!

Capt'N_Slow 08-06-2010 11:29 PM

Have found that the stock body posts are a little flexy. Has anyone found a thicker body post replacement or are non available?

Jochim_18 08-15-2010 12:11 PM

This thread is too quiet.... Whats going on with all the team magic drivers.

phisher 08-15-2010 12:27 PM

I ran my E4RS for the first time last weekend and it ROCKS! I'm running indoors on carpet with a 17.5 turn motor and I couldn't believe how well this car handles. It is night and day better than my Evo IV.

Pro10noob 08-15-2010 12:28 PM

For me is it that i am working to hard on race days.
That is what you get when your working on wind turbines and having error duties:flaming::flaming::flaming:
Have 2 races comming next month tho.
Going to try the K factory lipo conversion and see if it works.
If not going back to what i have now:D.

cheers Roy

I have a question. I traded a High Lift for a DE Edition E4. The top deck support that attaches to the belt tension post was broken when I got it. Closer inspection shows that this support isn't made from the thickest metal. I have thought about ordering a new one but, I don't want to waste the money if it's going to break easily. Suggestions?

phisher 08-15-2010 02:34 PM

After checking online, it looks like the replacement upper deck mount / belt tensioner is much thicker than the one that came on the DE edition. Does anyone know this to be true? Or, has this part been updated somewhere along the line?

A picture would be helpful in your description.
If you are talking about the brace from the rear bulkhead, it shouldn't break at all. If you are talking about the side belt tensioner area, the mount might have been dremmeled to create more motor clearance thus making it a bit too thin. The stock part would be stronger.
