Fitting Lipos and gearing for 10.5t for the E4

Ok I have been considering a change of class, I currently Run 5 Cell Brushless Mod (3.5T).

I want to run 10.5T Lipo, so

I tried fitting a friends 3800 Orion lipo in my car today and immediately hit a few problems, it wouldnt go in, but i think raising the top deck will help with that, but im not sure I could still get the battery tray, Is their a modification or will it fit once I have raised the top deck?

More of a problem, either way I put the battery in one of the connections was under the top deck. How do you guys connect the lipo to the ESC?

Sorry for so many questions but the E4 just is run in the UK by many people so help is difficult to get.

I still have to make my car weigh 1500gramms wheres the best place to put the extra 200+ gramms I will need to bring my car upto weight?

One last question, I need to be able to gear the car around 4.8 to run 10.5T on the tracks I race. Whats the best combination of Spur/Pinnion to get this with the limited movement for the motor?

If anyone has close up pics of their E4 with a lipo fitted showing how they go in and are connected, I would love to see them.

Many Thanks for any help.

Anthony

Hi guys,

I would like to know any experience with the Team Magic E4JS
car, i used to race the nitro G4S car and now i want to race some electric touring, i have a TC4 im using for now (our class its 13,5 brushless and niMh batts, maybe 7.4v lipo allowed next year).

So, its the Team Magic E4JS good enough for racing 13,5 brushless ?, or do i have to buy the top of the line version to be competitive as a must ?

In other point of view, where do i get spares in USA ?, im from Southamerica (Chile) and we dont have a TM distributor which carries electric touring parts so far.

thanks in advance !!

The E4JS would be great for 13.5 brushless, and you can upgrade it if you need to. You can get anything that you need for all Team Magic products from www.wolfhobbies.com

slakr 09-30-2008 11:43 AM

Tabushi... I responded to your PM, but in short I think the E4JS is a great car for the money. I have only run it on asphalt so far and with a 17.5BL motor, but it has been great. It has a ton of steering, has been super reliable and I am totally pleased with it so far. In about another month I should be moving indoors for rubber tire on carpet, so I will let you know how things work out there.

Solara 10-07-2008 10:57 AM

A team member's E4RS with custom steering, side brace and some carbon fiber piece...very nice setup and ran pretty good on indoor carpet with 13.5 Orion ,GTB and 3800 Orion Lipo...

Brinni 10-07-2008 11:17 AM

hi, what Motors do you drive on your E4RS? i have had a GM 9,5t but it is to long, so i need some motor which has a conical backplate like the Dr. Speed from GM. Or did you have any Modifications like a other holder for the middle belt (#503211)?

Solara 10-07-2008 11:36 AM

We have LRP, Orion, Speed Passion and Novak tried on this specific E4RS...all fits without problem (without modification)....only modification we did is shave some aluminum off from the rear side brace and middle belt mount in order to fit lipo like 4800 and 5000....just a ted for 3800 Orion.

Marcos.J 10-07-2008 11:47 AM

Nice car!! ( now i need to go and re-wire my car!!

Brinni 10-07-2008 12:08 PM

Hi, thank you for your answer, only for interest what ratios do you drive with 9,5T motors (when you drive 9,5T)

with lipo in the low 6's

Brinni 10-07-2008 12:37 PM

okay... we in germany drive 4,5 and lower... so i cant get my pinion so big to can drive with 4,5. I'm looking forward to modifing something with parts from G4RS.

greet

Solara 10-07-2008 01:15 PM

Yeah, Marco is more experience with mod type motor...I ran mostly 13.5 17.5 stocker....I would say 6 is very much a good ball park figure for 9.5 motor. I ran the 3.5 with 10 final drive and car ran great.

Yes Marco....my buddy is MASTER or wiring, he cut every single wire in that car to the exact right lenght without looping..then he cut all the carbon fiber piece by hand, and CA the edge of the whole car to the piano black condition.

Thats why it took him 6 months to do this E4....this is not really 100% a E4RS, it is a E4 at the beginning. Now...it is a E4, with E4FS chassis and E4RS parts....is a E4FRSS....

I am very interested to see what G4RS parts can be use on the E4RS...please share.

I have gearing ordered to get down to 3.2 and up to 4.5 for my 17.5. Should be in today.

Try lefthander-rc for Pinions over 47 and Robinson Racing for pinions up to 47 and 78, 81 and 85 tooth 64 pitch spurs.

I'm personally running a 78 tooth and 85 tooth Spurs with pinions ranging from 45 to 50.

May be we will see you @ the Hurricane race #2 @ madison....I still have to run my Schumacher Mi3.5 but might be able to run the foams E4FS. Or the E4RS for Trans-Am...or the E4FSRS for the sportsman so I can sandbag something...LOL

Nice! You'll like the new carpet there. Pearl blue 68 Camaro for VTA. I will be in attendance, hopefully racing. I need get some decent 4 cells ready. I'm trying to adjust the wheelbase on my JS without grinding control arms and have come up empty so far. I'd like to use longer shafts and shims to add wheelbase adjustments to the car as needed. I better get my practice in!

?

I am thinking about picking up the e4rs car for this season. I've been running the losi and i've been fairly decent with it but I'm thinking of trying something new. I mostly run on an indoor asphalt track with really high traction. I am just wondering how this car compares to the losi, i know they have similar design concepts with the center weight. Also, is this car pretty good right out of the box or are there a lot of extras needed to make it competitive? Thanks

The car is great out of the box. I myself owned the Type R and I feel that the E4 carries alot more corner speed and reacts quicker than the Type R. The only thing that i would upgrade on the E4RS would be the K-Factory rear hubs. The E4RS is very competative out of the box. If you live in the U.S. contact Wolf at www.wolfhobbies.com and he will take care of you.

If you get the E4RS I have a few set ups for rubber asphalt to get you started.

doriftu 10-08-2008 10:09 PM

Marcos,
any reason you recommend the K factory rear hubs hop up?

what about gearing? Is this car user friendly for 17.5 gearing? Thanks for the help

as long as you can find small spurs you shouldnt have any problems getting the ratio that you need for the 17.5, I have an assorment of spur gears and i can get ratios from the 3.45FDR range all the way to 14.75FDR

Ok guys, need some help.
Going to go for a E4 JS to start *(Just been told we're going to be getting a new indoor track so wont have to travel 5 million miles to race!!!)**

A set up for rubber tires, on carpet and what parts will I need to get this set up?

Also,
Looking at going into the 13.5 class. Reasonably priced brushless and speed controller combo'
(Bear in mind guys......I spend all my money on nitro so .... :-) )

This is going to be budget electric racing to keep my eye in for next year...lol

Thanks for any help you can give :-)
