Looking to put together M05/CF-R
I haven't been into RC since 99 or so and I really want to get an M05 Pro or maybe even a CF-R M05 conversion built. When I found this site I freaked out. There is so much good information. Thanks to everyone for sharing! I have a couple of questions.
Does anyone know which parts I would need from the M05 to put together the CF-R M05? I am pretty sure that I wouldn't need the whole kit. Also, does anyone know of good deals on radio equipment and motors? I am not sure where to buy online. Can you get good deals on kits or bundles? Sorry for the noob questions. |

To quote Tims review in regard to what bits you actually DO need...
The parts you need for this kit are: M05 F parts – C hub, knuckle (front upright), rear upright. M05 B parts – just the steering wiper parts. M05 C parts – rear lower suspension arms, rear body posts. M05 D parts – the rear body post mount only. You will need hinge pins for the lower rear arms. You will also need universals, rear axles and parts of the M05 ball bearing set – 4x 850 for steering wiper, and 8x 1150 for front and rear uprights. Not a lot at all! |

On the subject of diffs, is the Tamiya 54194 the one to use and is anyone running the Tamiya 54238 reinforced ball differential cup ?
To secure it. Use the TRF201 diff nut and bolt and the TRF201 thrust bearing assembly. They will fit perfectly. One thing to note, don't overtighten the diff or els ethe diff nut (although aluminum) will still strip. Don't ask how I know :o P.S. Put lots of thread lock on the diff bolt/nut. |
