Who's local in SoCal, attending this event tomorrow? There are gonna be alot of broken minis, but it looks like SpeedtechRC will be there for parts support?

I don't see any breaks in the bodies, a race you can walk away from without destroying a body is a well deserved race. So what spot did you guys place?

Some other mini racing from this past weekend....the Mega Mini Madness Triple A-mains at the Jackson East Coast Race of Champions. A whole bunch of minis, a whole bunch of fun, all thanks to RCScoring Pro's "National" software package that supports 20 car fields. :D+

Sharpie and the Jackson crew did an outstanding job putting this together
seeing 18 mini's on the track at one time was incredible - there was a single turn that didn't have action at any point during the 8 minutes, ie zero time to rest :) can't wait to do it again |
To spool or not to spool?
Apologies, I'm pretty sure this topic must have been covered but I can't work out how to search just the Mini thread so here goes:
My M05 has stripped it's 3rd set of gears in 4 meets (dunno if I got a batch of bad parts or if my HPI 15turn brushed is killing them) so I was thinking about putting a 3Racing spool in there. I figure no gears to mash=good thing. However, I'm not sure what it will do to the handling. The car is used exclusively indoors on carpet. Anybody currently using one or had one and can offer an honest opinion? |

I assume you're stripping the diff gears since you're talking about using a spool? We just ran a 6-hour enduro Saturday and I don't think anyone hurt their gear diff -- I know our two teams didn't. How are you building your diff?

Here are some pictures of my 2 M05Pro's.
http://i513.photobucket.com/albums/t...0072010054.jpg Blue one has only Tamiya Hopups on it, black one has Yeah Racing heatsink, 3Racing battery bars and 3Racing turnbuckle. Other than that they are identical. Missing some lead on blue M05, they are getting painted Faskolor pearl blue now. http://i513.photobucket.com/albums/t...0072010055.jpg http://i513.photobucket.com/albums/t...0072010056.jpg Going to run the blue one with Colt Subaru Impreza painted Faskolor pearl blue. Great racebody. 90% of the racers at our track run Colt bodies, New Beetle being the favourite since it's short, low and durable. 75 grams lighter than Tamiya BMW Mini and Tamiya Fiat 500. |
What brushless combo are you using on both?

I think I've got this figured. My M05 is a "bitsa" car which I built using lots of NIP M03 spares I had lying around and combining them with scavenged new M05-specific parts I got cheap from my LHS that was parting kits out for spares. This means that my outdrives are the splined type and it's these that keep failing. I think I need to upgrade to the keyed type outdrives and the 51008 gearset. Anybody have a part # for the outdrives?

It's about the same power as a well kept Tamiya Sport Tuned black can. We all use them at our club. The motor/esc in the black chassi is 2 years old now and still as fast as the brand new one it the blue M05. They are very equal in speed, and cheap. They level the playingfield, no other brand is allowed. The last set came to 60USD incl. shipping. They also got 16T/2400kv motor that is about a well kept siver can that cost the same as mine. |
I bought some Sweep 33deg tires cheap from the bay and need some advice on which inserts might be best suited to a indoor carpet track?
I'm running a Xevo if that makes any difference?? |

Try a pair with Sweep aqua's and a pair with Sweep green's. Try the green's on the front and aqua's on the rear.
